Aston Martin introduces ‘unmistakable’ new Vantage

Hold the phone - Aston Martin has just revealed a brand new Vantage. And it’s the ‘fastest Vantage in the nameplate’s history’.

Just when you thought the death knell had sounded for the traditional V8 engine, too. .

At the heart of the new Vantage is a hulking-great 4.0-litre V8 engine chucking out power of 665 PS and a colossal 800 Nm of torque.

That power output is a huge jump compared with the preceding Vantage, up 115 PS and 115 Nm, and which also rivals the explosive V12 Vantage that was launched in 2022.

The V8 Vantage is, of course, Aston Martin’s ‘entry-level’ coupe, costing around £165,000.

It sits 30mm wider than before, has a more muscular stance, sits on 21-inch wheels, and has new distinctive ‘strakes’ at the side to emphasise the vents in the flanks.

And this latest Vantage variant will go toe-to-toe with a long-standing rival, the Porsche 911 Turbo S, which gets power of 650 PS.

The new two-seat Vantage coupe gets an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission which is enough to propel it from 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds and then on to a top speed of 202 mph.

That’s not as rapid as the Porsche, but the Vantage is about more than just speed, placing just as much emphasis on class-leading interiors and sophisticated, continent-crossing levels of comfort.

When it comes to how the Vantage handles, Aston Martin promises a chassis and powertrain ‘tuned to deliver maximum thrills and driver engagement’. It’s a proper driver’s car, then.

There are industry-leading Active Vehicle Dynamics, Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, an Electronic Rear Differential (E-diff) and unique 21-inch Michelin Pilot S 5 tyres.

A perfect 50:50 weight distribution and state-of-the-art suspension with intelligent adaptive dampers provide ‘the foundation for a definitive driving experience’, says Aston martin.

The E-Diff actively augments stability in conjunction with the ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) to boost traction, and it can go from zero to full lock in 135ms.

Meanwhile an ‘Integrated Brake Slip Control’ (IBC) system uses the latest generation ABS to not only optimise stopping distances but apply Brake Slip Vectoring to get the car poised for corner entry.

In the sumptuous cabin you’ll find ‘aromatic hand-stitched’ Bridge of Weir hides that create a ‘cosseting, comfortable space’, according to Aston Martin.

Every Vantage comes with a premium 11-speaker surround sound system as well as a next-gen infotainment set-up with 10.25-inch touchscreen that has been borrowed from the DB12.

Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer, Amedeo Felisa, said: “As we enter a period of pivotal change in the world of high-performance cars it is essential to remain true to those qualities upon which a legendary marque has been built. Any car bearing the Vantage name has much to live-up to, which is why this newest model makes an unwavering commitment to high-performance in its purest and most explicit form. Class-leading power and speed establish its credentials, but it is through expert application of the latest technologies to the Vantage’s perfectly balanced front-engine rear-drive chassis that we have created a sports car with addictive capability. Together with assertive styling, all-new interior and state-of-the-art infotainment, Vantage is world-class in every respect”.

Production of the Vantage is due to commence in Q1 of 2024, with first deliveries scheduled to begin during Q2 2024.

First time for car leasing and looking back at the process, everything went smoothly. Quite a lot of paperwork to sign before getting a delivery date but i suppose it’s all part of the course. David Harding was very helpful from start to finish and helped me with all the questions that i had. I can’t speak highly enough of David. The car was delivered by a very helpful and pleasant man ( Jim ) , who showed me all that i needed to know about the car. I would recommend select car leasing for all aspects and i have no negatives .
