Seat Leon Hatchback Lease

The SEAT Leon is an affordable family hatchback that takes the fight to premium rivals thanks to its sporty, energetic styling and modern hybrid powertrains.

The Leon isn’t short of competitors, with the list including the Volkswagen Golf, Honda Civic, Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus, Mazda3 hatch, Audi A3 and the BMW 1 Series.

But the SEAT Leon triumphs by being a wallet-friendly leasing option that’s available in a variety of different trim levels, and which also has power of up to 204 PS.

Both SEAT and Volkswagen come under the umbrella of the wider Volkswagen Group, and so the Leon and the VW Golf share much in common, including the vehicle platform and range of engines.

And that’s no bad thing at all, with both the Leon and the Golf having strong reputations for both reliability and safety.

The SEAT Leon also comes as standard with driver assistance technology such as front-assist and a lane keeping system.

About the SEAT Leon hatchback

The SEAT Leon has been a fixture of UK roads since it was first launched in 1999. Now, some four generations later, the Leon remains one of the most desirable cars in its class.

The SEAT Leon and Volkswagen Golf are closely related. Both vehicles share the Volkswagen Group’s ‘MQB’ platform, as does the Audi A3, and the available engines are replicated across the models.

Where the Leon differs, however, is with its exterior styling, which can be viewed as more youthful and vibrant compared with the Golf.

If you want a performance Leon, you’ll need to look to the Spanish brand’s CUPRA division, where you can enjoy power of up to 300 PS with the CUPRA Leon.

Why lease a SEAT Leon hatchback?

Most customers who lease a SEAT Leon will be looking for a sensible alternative to the Volkswagen Golf, but one that still boasts plenty of road presence. The Leon is also the larger of SEAT’s two hatchbacks, boasting more interior space than the smaller SEAT Ibiza.

One of the big appeals of the Leon, like the Golf, is that it’s available to lease with a plug-in hybrid powertrain - a huge consideration if you’re a company car driver looking to lower your Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax burden.

The plug-in hybrid SEAT Leon offers a range of up to 40 miles using electricity alone as well as power of 204 PS, which is enough to accelerate the hatch from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds.

The SEAT Leon also comes with a generous 380-litre boot, which is larger than you get with rivals like the Mazda3 hatchback.

Which SEAT Leon hatchback powertrain is right for me?

Petrol

There are 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre ‘EVO’ petrol engines that have power of between 110 PS and 150 PS.

Mild-hybrid

The SEAT Leon’s mild-hybrid engines are called ‘eTSI’, and again have power of between 110 PS and 150 PS

Plug-in hybrid

The Leon’s plug-in hybrid powertrain is referred to as ‘eHybrid’, and is available on the range-topping FR and FR Sport trims.

Which SEAT Leon hatchback trim level should I lease?

SE

SE

Entry-level SE models come equipped with 16-inch alloys, LED lights, and an 8.25-inch screen in the cabin.

SE Dynamic

SE Dynamic

The SE Dynamic grade adds larger 17-inch alloys, tinted rear windows, and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen.

FR

FR

The FR trim comes with firmer sports suspension for a more engaging drive, as well as unique exterior styling and wireless phone charging for the cabin.

FR Sport

FR Sport

The range-topping FR Sport grade also gets sports suspension, along with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, microsuede upholstery, and 18-inch alloys.

Seat Leon Review

The latest Leon is a properly attractive car. Where it was once bulbous and fluffy, it’s now sharp, angular and edgy, while we particularly like the purposeful rear end.
