Mazda 2 Review
The Mazda 2 aims to take on the likes of the SEAT Ibiza and the Volkswagen Polo, but is this small city car showing its age, or can it still hold a candle to its main rivals?
We’re open for business over Christmas! (We are closed Xmas, Boxing and New Year’s Days and from 2pm Xmas and New Year’s Eve)
Compact family hatchbacks don’t get much more tempting than the Mazda2 Hybrid - coming as it does with eye-catching styling, an impressive list of kit as standard, and a frugal self-charging powertrain.
The Mazda2 Hybrid - updated and refreshed in 2024 - is actually a very different car to the regular Mazda2, the latter of which has a traditional 1.5-litre petrol engine.
A Mazda2 Hybrid, lease however, features an electrified powertrain to lower CO2 emissions while significantly improving fuel efficiency.

A 59 kW electric motor combines with a 1.4 litre petrol engine to create power of 116 hp. The Mazda2 Hybrid never needs to be plugged in, either, as it recoups kinetic energy through deceleration and while braking.
And not only is the Mazda2 Hybrid affordable to lease in the first place, you can also enjoy fuel economy of up to 74.3mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 98-87 g/km, depending on the trim level and whether you opt for 15 inch or 16 inch alloys.
There’s 286 litres of luggage space in the Mazda2 Hybrid, which is more than you can expect with rivals such as the Suzuki Swift or Hyundai i10, and which also trumps the stowage in the traditionally-fuelled Mazda2.
Even the entry-level trim unlocks a generous amount of creature comforts.
You can expect dynamic radar cruise control, lane trace assist with lane centring, a reversing camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, a 9-inch colour screen and six-speaker audio system.
The Mazda2 Hybrid is also sprightly, covering 0-62mph in just 9.7 seconds and carrying on to a top speed of 109 mph.

This is the 2nd car I have leased from Select. I have found the process easy to follow and have always found Aron Stevenson the leading consultant I have dealt with , to be very helpful and efficient .
Stephen Hood was outstanding in guiding me through the return of my old lease vehicle and finding me a fantastic new deal on a BMW. Very happy !
Callum my agent was very helpful and efficient. From start to finish he always kept me updated on developments and when we had a slight delay on the delivery date he was in touch with me constantly to update. My car spec is exactly what I ordered and as soon as it was delivered I received a courtesy call from Callum. I would highly recommend select car to anyone!
