Fiat 500 Frequently Asked Questions
The Fiat 500 is one of the most noticeable cars on UK roads, with cute, retro looks and loads of customisation options. The standard model has been a favourite for many years, and there’s now a new, all-electric model too.
Both remain available, in both hatchback and convertible body styles. If you want a car that still turns heads as it drives by, then it’s hard to get better for less money than the Fiat 500.
Part of the Fiat 500’s appeal is its very attractive leasing rates, so you’ll be able to get into one of the most recognisable cars on the road for less than you might think. Whichever model you go for, you can take advantage of Select Car Leasing’s market-leading links to the automotive industry.
These mean that we can offer some of the most competitive rates and special offers in the country. Check out the full list of Fiat 500 lease deals to see which one is the best for you.
The retro looks of the 500 are a major part of its appeal. They’re taken from the original, now-iconic 500 of the late 1950s, and have proved immensely popular with UK customers since it launched in 2007. That model remains available today, with lots of personalisation options inside and, and mild-hybrid power from its petrol engines.
There’s also a new version of the 500, released in 2020, which is powered purely by electricity. Its battery gives it a range of up to 199 miles from a single charge. Both versions are available as three-door hatchback, or as convertibles, with a retractable fabric roof.
The latest 500 hasn’t yet been tested by independent safety organisation Euro NCAP, but it does come loaded with some of the latest active systems to help avoid an accident, and keep you safe if one does occur. The older, non-electric model scored well when it was tested at launch in 2007, but safety standards have moved on considerably since then. It was tested again in 2017 and scored only three stars.
Practicality isn’t really a strong point or a priority for the 500; it’s very small by design, which is great for nipping in and out of city traffic, but probably won’t be suitable for families. Two adults up front will be fine, but the rear seats are really for small children only and the boot is on the small side.
Fiat is very keen on stressing the customisation options for the 500, and throughout its existence the company has brought out new special editions and trim levels to keep things fresh. To that end, it hardly seems worth explaining the current trim options, as they’ll likely have changed by the time you read this.
Suffice to say there are plenty of options in terms of paint, alloy wheel designs and interior colour schemes, as well as extras like a panoramic sunroof. All have alloy wheels and an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so that you can connect up your smartphone.
This is the 2nd car I have leased from Select. I have found the process easy to follow and have always found Aron Stevenson the leading consultant I have dealt with , to be very helpful and efficient .
Stephen Hood was outstanding in guiding me through the return of my old lease vehicle and finding me a fantastic new deal on a BMW. Very happy !
Callum my agent was very helpful and efficient. From start to finish he always kept me updated on developments and when we had a slight delay on the delivery date he was in touch with me constantly to update. My car spec is exactly what I ordered and as soon as it was delivered I received a courtesy call from Callum. I would highly recommend select car to anyone!
