Electric van sales dropped in February, but Vauxhall topped the list of electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) registrations, according to figures issued by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Despite competition from the likes of the Ford E-Transit, Toyota Proace Electric and Volkswagen ID Buzz Cargo, Vauxhall topped the eLCV February sales charts with its Vivaro Electric panel van. It followed that with second place for the smaller Combo Electric van, giving Vauxhall a 39.2% share of the sector.
With a strong January sales record joining the 264 Vivaro Electric and 115 Combo Electric registrations in February, Vauxhall-badged electric vehicles have captured 25.6% of the electric van market for the year to date.
Vauxhall puts its success down to being only one of a few manufacturers offering an electric version across its entire line-up, alongside Stellantis-owned stablemates from Citroen and Peugeot. The manufacturer intends to be an electric-only manufacturer from 2028.
