The 49th National Association of Police Fleet Managers’ Conference in Telford will see Vauxhall displaying its arresting range of electric vehicles.
Alongside the Vivaro Electric cell van and Corsa Electric patrol car, Vauxhall will showcase its newest offering to the law enforcement lineup — the new Astra Electric. As well as having the vehicle range available for scrutiny, there will also be representatives of Vauxhall’s special operations team on hand for cross-examination.
Vauxhall has an established association with UK Police forces, and this event will help to extend that relationship, as both the forces and the manufacturer aim to transition quickly to electric fleets. Vauxhall, which is already a significant partner to several Forces, intends to offer electric versions of all its vehicles starting next year and to be an exclusively electric manufacturer by 2028.
There are currently more than 100 Vivaro Electric vans operational within the UK Police Force, the earliest of which have been serving communities for more than a year. The Vivaro Electric vans joined more than 200 Corsa Electric vehicles used as neighbourhood patrol cars since 2021, and given the interest Vauxhall has seen from various forces, the forthcoming Astra Electric is set to join the ranks after its release this summer.
Ahead of the launch of the Astra Electric to UK Police forces, it is being tailored by fleet specialists to ensure that it meets police vehicle standards.
“Vauxhall has enjoyed a longstanding association with the UK’s Police Forces, and we are pleased the Forces continue to choose Vauxhall as they transition towards electric vehicles,”
Vauxhall’s managing director, James Taylor, commented:
“Our presence at the 49th National Association of Police Fleet Managers’ Conference helps showcase the breadth and capabilities of our growing line-up of electric cars and vans at this crucial time.
“Already, Vauxhall is one of the few companies in the UK able to offer an electric variant across its entire van range, with the Vivaro Electric the country’s best-selling electric van. With more than 100 already on the road as Police vehicles, it’s another testament to the capabilities of the Vauxhall electric range.”
