Select Car Leasing nominated for ‘Community’ award

Select Car Leasing has been nominated for a prestigious industry award in recognition of its commitment to helping the local community.

Select, headquartered in Reading, Berks, has been nominated in the ‘Outstanding Contribution to The Community Award’ category of the upcoming Thames Valley Business and Community Awards.

The past twelve months has seen Select engaging in many community initiatives.

They include providing three brand-new Audi A1 cars to the Sue Ryder Palliative Care Hub South Oxfordshire, which offers expert palliative care and support for local people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.

Select has also donated a vehicle to the St Michaels Hospice, Hampshire, to be utilised by essential care workers.

The firm has given away more than 1,000 free tickets to youngsters to watch Reading F.C over the course of the current season, as part of its ‘Tickets for Kids’ initiative’.

Select Car Leasing is also helping to provide free hot meals to underprivileged children who take part in the Reading F.C Community Trust‘s free week-long Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Camps.

Select continues to support and raise awareness of the Whitley Community Development Association’s (WCDA) ‘Surplus Food Project’ food bank, donating a van so that volunteers can pick up the produce to be redistributed to those who need it each day.

Meanwhile Select also managed to raise £1,200 for the Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice after organising a charity football match at Reading F.C’s Select Car Leasing stadium earlier this year.

Select Car Leasing Company Director Mark Tongue commented:

“Here at Select we take our corporate responsibility extremely seriously, and we’ve always tried to support a number of different charities across the Thames Valley region.
“Our continuing support of Sue Ryder in particular is long-standing, as we’ve been working with them for almost eight years now.
“Besides our commitment to charity, we’ve also recently been helping to fund free kits for local grassroots football teams in the local area, with support from the Grassroots FA, giving our backing to under-funded clubs.
“So, with these important activities in mind, we’re naturally delighted to have been recognised by the Thames Valley Business and Community Awards.
“It’s a nomination that not only recognises Select’s ethos and spirit as a business, but also the staff who contribute and support our charitable endeavours.”

The Thames Valley Business and Community Awards take place Wednesday 30th November 2022 at The Hilton in Reading, with all money raised going to charity and not-for-profit groups.

The winners of the awards will be announced during that event.

Meanwhile Select is also preparing to donate a free new seven-seat vehicle to The Reading FC Community Trust so that it can continue to undertake its vital work.
