Renault’s range of light commercial vehicles is being streamlined as the French manufacturer cuts trim lines while reducing prices by as much as £4,600.
The recently launched Kangoo serves as the model for the new lineup, with the Trafic and Master following the same model structure. Larger than the Kangoo, the mid-size Trafic will now be available in entry-level Start trim, followed by Advance, Extra and Extra Sport specifications. Those needing a Trafic Passenger will have to choose between Start and Extra models. The large Master van, aimed squarely at fleet users, will be limited to just Start and Advance trim lines.
By eliminating some specifications, Renault has reduced its range by 38%, cutting down from 161 models to a core of 100 distinct types. The resulting clarity for customers makes the buying and leasing process easier, while the reduction in complexity creates efficiencies in production and supply, with reduced delivery lead times.
It also cuts the cost of production, which Renault has passed on to the customer, with price cuts ranging from £3,100 to £4,600 depending on the model.
The result is that the Renault Trafic panel van now starts at £25,500 plus VAT, while the Trafic Passenger range begins at £30,000 plus VAT. The larger Master van is now priced from £29,750 plus VAT, and the versatile range of Master Conversions starts with the Chassis Cab, now with a £30,000 plus VAT price tag.
These changes won’t take long to filter through to customers, with the first deliveries of the revised ranges expected early in 2023.
