The all-electric version of the Nissan Townstar compact van, successor to the e-NV200 and offering up to 183 miles of range, will start at just £29,945 to buy outright - but watch this space for lease prices!
Primed to accelerate businesses' transition toward electrification, the Townstar is driven by a 120hp electric motor with power provided by a 44kWh battery pack - enough to provide up to 183 miles of range, according to WLTP testing.
If it’s used for purely city driving, where demands are lighter, then the same testing regime suggests that it could go as far as 269 miles.
With the entry-level Visia grade fitted with an 11kW onboard charging system, recharging can be carried out on a suitable home or workplace charger overnight.
Move up the grades to Acenta and higher and users will benefit from a faster 22kW charging system, alongside a DC rapid charging connector - the latter allows the battery to recharge from 0% to 80% in just over 40 minutes when connected to a suitable charger- so be sure to consult our guide on picking your ideal EV charger.
Electric versions of the Townstar panel van have a maximum cargo volume of 4.3m3 in long-wheelbase form, which matches the diesel-powered models, and is large enough to house two Euro pallets.
The long and short wheelbase models have payload limits of 800kg and 600kg respectively, with all models holding a maximum braked towing capacity of 1,500kg.
The Townstar is built around the CMF-C platform, which it shares with the Nissan Qashqai SUV, promising more car-like handling and ride. It's also fitted with more than 20 safety technologies and driver assistance features, such as automatic emergency braking, hands-free parking, adaptive cruise control and 360-degree camera views.
There are four trim levels available, ranging from the entry-level Visia, through Acenta – with enhanced facilities to accommodate most professional needs – and Tekna, which incorporates additional driver convenience and upgraded exterior styling.
Tekna+ is the top-of-the-range model and combines the latest technology with enhanced driver assistance.
“With tougher emissions standards, urban access restrictions, and ever-increasing demand for last-mile delivery, businesses large and small need to find effective and sustainable solutions to remain competitive and optimise their operations,”
said Allan Newman, LCV product manager at Nissan GB.
“We’re confident Townstar will meet their every need.”
First customer deliveries are expected early in 2023.
