Motor Parts Direct is extending its commitment to Citroen’s LCV products, with an order of 220 Berlingo vans to add to its 850-strong fleet, with 40 of them being e-Berlingo electric models.
This is a small but important step for the company as it moves towards electrifying its fleet for the first time, looking to operate more sustainably as it continues to grow nationwide.
The motor factor was swayed not only by the e-Berlingo’s promise of zero-emission transport but also by the fact that the cargo area remains as capacious as the regular diesel-powered variants' load area.
Available in two lengths, and with a load capacity of up to 4.4m3 and a maximum payload of up to 803kg, the e-Berlingo meets the needs of many fleets and SME users alike.
Power is provided by a 50kWh battery pack, feeding electricity to a 136hp motor. Good for a range of up to 171 miles, at least according to official WLTP testing, the 100kW charging capability means that the battery can be topped up from empty to 80% in just 30 minutes. That's enough for another 136 miles.
Three driving modes - Normal, Eco and Power - and an energy recovery system that turns braking into free electricity to be stored in the battery pack, help to extend the range available.
