Iveco has been at the forefront of developing alternative fuel vehicles for more than two decades, with natural gas and electric models helping fleets cut carbon emissions.
It’s now going a step further and is pledging to plant a tree sapling for every new Iveco sold, even backdating this initiative to January 2022.
The pledge will apply to every model within the Iveco range, from the Iveco Daily van to the flagship Iveco S-Way HGV. All will contribute to the program in collaboration with The Future Forest Company. Every new diesel, CNG, and LNG vehicle will add to a legacy of environmental benefits that a tree’s natural living processes have granted. Even the new zero-emissions Iveco eDaily will add to its carbon-saving mission.
Iveco’s collaborative partner, The Future Forest Company, plans to remove a million tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere by 2030. Its UK tree-planting program aims to improve air quality and create new habitats for wildlife to thrive. These new forests will help restore essential biodiversity and protect endangered species.
Tom Newell, general manager at The Future Forest Company:
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Iveco. By choosing to plant trees with The Future Forest Company, Iveco is having a real impact towards increasing UK forest cover, improving biodiversity, and reversing the climate crisis.”
Iveco also continues its decarbonisation journey by introducing a fully electric model — the eDaily — capable of towing up to 3.5 tonnes, while the Daily, Eurocargo and Iveco S-Way Natural Gas variants can run on biomethane, a fuel that results in an up to 95% reduction in CO2 versus a diesel equivalent.
Lisa Fuller, head of brand marketing and communications:
“Iveco is very proud to be part of this initiative that enhances our work towards a sustainable future. Our electric and biomethane-compatible vehicles dramatically cut emissions, while every new tree planted will help tackle carbon existing in the atmosphere.”
