When there’s no Airbnb to be found on your wilderness mission, you’re gonna need the new Isuzu Basecamp instead.
The good people at Isuzu have taken the range-topping D-Max AT35 pick-up and thrown the accessories catalogue at it, creating what it reckons is perfect vehicle camper.
Vehicle camping is bang on trend right now, with countless influencers on TikTok and Instagram showing you how it’s done, and the Basecamp capitalises on that movement.
It’s certainly more rugged than traditional campers like the Volkswagen California and will take you to places that other vehicles simply couldn’t reach. We know this for a fact as we recently tested the Isuzu D-Max on a serious off-road course, and you can read our trip report.
Like the regular AT35, the Basecamp gets raised Bilstein suspension and chunky 35-inch tyres.
It also adds an ‘Ascent Canopy’ from 4x4 accessories company ARB as well as a rooftop tent. There’s a sliding kitchen, electric fridge, and lighting upgrades courtesy of Brit firm Lazer.
You even get an ensuite shower room with a portable camping shower.
