Thousands of youngsters will watch Reading FC this weekend after snapping-up discounted tickets as part of the club’s School and Grassroots scheme.
Each season, Reading FC - sponsored by Select Car Leasing - offers cut-price tickets to youngsters for certain designated matches.
For schools and grassroots football clubs signed up to the initiative, tickets are made available for just £1 for all those aged 12 & Under, with other heavy discounts available for all age groups.
It means around 5,000 youngsters involved in the offer will take their seats at the Select Car Leasing Stadium for Reading’s home clash against Leyton Orient on Saturday 27th January.
And making the beautiful game accessible to fledgling supporters is a passion that’s shared here at Select.
As Principal Partner of Reading FC, Select runs its own Tickets for Kids scheme, whereby local grassroots football clubs can apply for around 30 FREE match passes to each home game. Each year, we donate around 1,000 free tickets to youngsters who might not otherwise get to watch a professional game.
While applications for the current season are closed, the process will renew again soon - so be sure to check back.
Mark Tongue, Director at Select Car Leasing, said: “As a company, we’re passionate about giving back to grassroots sport. I grew up playing football in the local area and, as a youngster, I would have loved the chance to go and watch my beloved Reading F.C. So to now be able to provide such opportunities to hundreds of youngsters is one of the most rewarding things we can do as a socially-responsible business.”
Besides free tickets, Select recently partnered with the Grassroots FA - led by passionate founder Gary Small - to donate free football kits to many clubs across the Thames Valley region.
Meanwhile Select also works closely with the Reading FC Community Trust, pledging thousands of pounds each year to help fund free Food and Activity Camps for underprivileged youngsters in the local area.
Speaking in May last year, Dave Evans, General Manager of the Reading F.C Community Trust, said: “Reading F.C Community Trust is extremely grateful for the support it continues to receive from Select Car Leasing. This is about making a real difference to the lives of children and their families at a time when parents and carers need all the help they can get."
