With four wins already in the bag since 2001, Ford can add another International Van of the Year Award to its trophy cabinet, as the new Transit Custom has scooped the 2024 title.

This fifth win is for the new one-tonne Transit Custom, which headed off competition from the Iveco eDaily and Renault Trafic E-Tech, which took second and third place, respectively. Other finalists for the title included the Hyvia Master E-Tech H2, Mercedes-Benz eCitan and Vauxhall Vivaro-e Hydrogenfish.
With the drive towards alternative fuels and electric and hydrogen-powered finalists in the running, it is interesting to note that the Transit Custom was the only finalist powered by a traditional diesel engine. However, an all-electric E-Transit Custom is coming soon.
Meanwhile the Ford Transit Custom was also the best-selling van in the UK in 2023, ahead of the Ford Transit and third-placed Vauxhall Vivaro, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The award was voted for by an expert panel of 25 commercial vehicle journalists, who declared the third-generation Transit Custom the winner. Having gone on sale across Europe earlier this year, its best-in-class cabin, driving dynamics and impressive technology, such as over-the-air software updates, undoubtedly turned heads.

This is the fifth occasion that the Ford Transit has won IVOTY, first in 2001 and 2007 with the then all-encompassing model. Soon after its launch, the new generation standalone one-tonne variant – the Transit Custom – secured the title in 2013, and in 2020 and now for 2024. Congratulations to all involved for this significant achievement.”
