New Ford Ranger ‘Stormtrak’ and ‘Wolftrak’ models unveiled

Tougher looks and stylish cabins are the order of the day for two brand new Ford Ranger models - the Stormtrak and the Wolftrak.

The Ranger is already one of the best pick-up trucks on the market for lease customers, recently scooping the ‘Pick Up of the Year’ gong at the annual What Car? Awards.

And the new Stormtrak and Wolftrak promise to take owners ‘far off the beaten track for work and fun’, according to Ford.

So what’s the difference between the two, and what are the underpinnings?

The Stormtrak is based on Ford’s mid-range ‘Wildtrak’ variant - which sits behind the range-topping ‘Raptor’ - and is the more ‘lifestyle’ geared vehicle of the two new models.

Available as a Double Cab only, with spacious rear seating, the Stormtrak features the powerful Bi-turbo 213PS 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine that also features in the Raptor and Wildtrak Rangers.

Here you enjoy 500Nm of torque for outstanding pulling power, a standard selectable four-wheel drive system and a 10‑speed automatic gearbox.

Style wise, there’s an exclusive ‘Rapid Red’ paint job as well as a new front grille, LED headlights, muscular underbody protection, black rear bumpers and body decals as standard.

The Stormtrak also benefits from Ford’s new ‘Power Roller Shutter’, which offers great practicality when moving cargo.

Inside the cabin you get a lush leather interior carried over from the high-end Raptor as well as ‘tinted graphite’ panel flourishes.

And the Ranger Stormtrak also retains the 1.0-tonne payload and 3,500kg maximum towing weight delivered by Wildtrak series.

The Wolftrak is a slightly different beast, aimed at workers rather than folks who want to go on a mountaineering expedition at the weekends.

This model is based on the affordable ‘XLT’ Ranger, and ‘built for customers who desire dependable off-road capability and a bold, no‑nonsense exterior.’

Lease customers get a 170PS 2.0‑litre EcoBlue diesel engine with the choice of six-speed manual or 10‑speed automatic transmission.

There’s a selectable four-wheel drive system with shift-on-the-fly function, electronically-locking rear differential and all-terrain tyres as standard, as well as a low range four-wheel drive setting so you can really tackle the tough stuff.

There’s also a 1.0‑tonne payload and 3,500kg maximum towing weight.

While a long-leg tubular sports bar and underbody protection gives the Wolftrak some rugged good looks.

Hans Schep, general manager, Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe, says:

“Customers love the bold style and tough capability of our Ranger pick-up, so we’ve developed the new Stormtrak and Wolftrak limited edition models to offer even more of both.
“Stormtrak combines striking looks with added luxury touches and features for active lifestyles, while Wolftrak’s rugged off-road performance helps it comfortably take owners far off the beaten track for work and fun.”

Both models will arrive at Ford dealers across Europe from October 2021.

A really professional and amazing experience from beginning to end. I feel I got a great deal on the car and good options available in terms of spec, not just a standard model. Sam was amazing throughout the process, although there were some challenges along the way, Sam was excellent in terms of follow up and communication, and went above and beyond to get the car ordered and delivered. Thank you select team.
