Kia celebrates triple win at fleet awards

Kia is celebrating a triple win at this year’s Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards 2023.

The Kia Niro triumphed in the ‘Best Fleet Small SUV’ category, while the much-loved Sportage (above) was handed the ‘Best Fleet Medium SUV’ trophy.

Meanwhile the fully-electric Kia Niro EV (below) walked away with the ‘Best EV Small SUV’ gong, rounding off a great night for the Korean manufacturer.

There was a double win for BMW, with the 3 Series named ‘Best Compact Executive’ car and the 5 Series scooping the ‘Best Executive Car’ title.

Elsewhere at the awards bash, Genesis - the luxury arm of Hyundai - was named the ‘Fleet Rising Star’ manufacturer, thanks to cars like the sumptuous G80 saloon (above) and the all-electric GV60 crossover.

The ‘Fleet Manufacturer of the Year’ silverware went to Vauxhall, overall.

Meanwhile the Ford Ranger was named ‘Pickup of the Year’, and the electric Ford E-Transit was ‘Large Van of the Year’.

The all-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo (below) was been named ‘EV Van of the Year’.

John Kendall, Editor of Van Fleet World, said: “Volkswagen’s ID range of electric cars has established the manufacturer as a producer of dedicated electric vehicle platforms and the logical extension to this has been to include light CVs in the same process. The VW ID. Buzz Cargo is the first model to emerge, providing a compact to medium sized van built on an electric only platform. With a design recalling the original 1949 VW Transporter, it’s a head-turner, while the ID electric driving experience is one that is likely to please drivers. With sales through VW Commercial Vehicles, EV van fleet customers can expect the support they would hope for from a van manufacturer.”
