VW and Dacia reveal new campers

Spring has definitely sprung - because both Volkswagen and Dacia have unveiled new campers, fresh for the warmer months.

The two outdoorsy vehicles sit at very different ends of the affordability spectrum - but each have their own unique appeal.

Dacia’s offering comes in the form of an optional ‘Sleep Pack’, which turns the seven-seat Jogger into a ‘mobile bedroom’ for two people.

You’ll need to remove the third row of seats, but Dacia says you can assemble the camping space in less than two minutes.

You get a mattress, 220-litre storage box, and what Dacia says is a ‘generous’ 60cm of headroom when you’re laid flat.

A Dacia spokesperson adds: “In the morning, the pack can be quickly folded away before setting off on another adventure.”

All in all, it’s an appealing option for a car that’s already attractive, with the Jogger having just been named ‘Best Large Family’ vehicle at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2023.

You can also lease the Dacia Jogger - which is also available as a frugal self-charging hybrid - with Select from just £232 per month*. And you can add 'packs' to your lease by clicking on the 'Choose colour, trim and options' button which you'll see when you click on a particular deal. And then the cost of that 'pack' is spread across the duration of your lease contract.

Volkswagen’s addition to the camping scene comes in the form of a new ‘California Surf’ trim level for the conic ‘T6.1’ California Transporter.

The trim slots into the Transporter range between the ‘California Beach Tour’ and ‘California Ocean’ vehicles and it’s equipped with ‘essentials that make camping trips with the family easy and comfortable’, according to VW.

There’s a gas hob and two burners, a stainless steel sink with a removable washing-up bowl, and heated front seats.

It’s capable of sleeping a family of four, thanks to a loft bed and convertible back-seat bench that folds out into a bed for two.

The VW California Surf is driven by a 2.0 litre diesel engine with power of 150 PS and you get a whole host of driver assistance and safety features fitted as standard, including adaptive cruise control and crosswind assist.

You can lease the regular VW California Beach camper (above) - which comes complete with a mini-kitchen, camping table and pop-up canvas roof - from around £787 per month*.

I could not recommend Select enough and the amazing service I had from my consultant Shane Newton. Shane regularly updated me on progress of my new vehicle, and was always so helpful in answering any queries I had regarding my order throughout the whole process - no question was silly - he always responded promptly whether that be through email or phone call. I just received my new vehicle last week, and Shane was in contact right away to ensure the handover was seamless and that I was happy with my new vehicle! Needless to say I was very happy with the earlier than anticipated delivery - Christmas has came early! This is my second vehicle with Select and yet another excellent service. I could not fault anything and want to thank Shane once again for all of his help!
