Every now and then, a vehicle is released that makes you think, “Wow, really!?” which brings us to the Magnum 700 from the Italian design house Militem.
It’s going to appeal to a very niche customer base and is described by Militem as an "in-house 'Big Toy' that well knows how to satisfy the desires of passionate customers."
Apparently, the Magnum 700 is made ‘to break the boundaries of the ordinary’ and demonstrates ‘energetic soul and bold wit’. If nothing else, they can certainly talk the talk.
This monster of a vehicle takes the already-tasty Ram TRX pick-up and adds a little bit of... well, everything. It's powered by a 6.2-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine, which produces 702hp and 882 Nm of torque, so it’s not about to win any environmental awards.
Even at the epic US-centric proportions of the Magnum 700, that’s enough power to propel the pick-up to 62mph in a mere 4.5 seconds and up to 100mph in 10.5 seconds. There’s even electronic launch control if you fancy a quarter-mile drag race. 12.9 seconds, just in case you were wondering.
Militem has also refined the vehicle’s dynamics; adaptive suspension and Bilstein Black Hawk E2 shock dampers are attached to a reinforced ladder frame chassis with a raised stance. Ground clearance is 30cm, and the wading depth is 80cm. Couple that with approach and departure angles of 30.2° and 23.5°, respectively, and the Magnum 700 seems to offer reasonable off-road accessibility.
The Magnum 700 has had a cosmetic overhaul. Four Black Performance exhausts, Militem 22-inch Black Edition forged wheels, and All-Terrain oversized tyres mean this one isn’t going to shrink into the background.
The "Magnum BAR" — a roll bar equipped with a retractable light bar with automatic LED lights — is a prominent exterior feature, backed up by a two-tone hexagonal grille, widebody hood and fenders, and front mirrors. It can all be enhanced with carbon fibre inserts and two-tone trim to emphasise ‘the dominant nature of Magnum 700’.
The cabin has a good dose of luxury, with carbon-fibre details splashed all around. Top-quality leather with Alcantara inserts adorn the front and rear wraparound seats, which are also equipped with heating and cooling. There’s also a 12-inch infotainment system and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system to absorb passengers while they are in the luxurious cabin.
If all that isn’t enough, there are some optional features, too, including a double-panel panoramic sunroof, a load box cover with remote-controlled opening and closing, and a removable bed step for easy loading. A dedicated roll bar over the body, electrically retracting side footboards, and customisable LED ambient lights are also available.
Militem promises that the Magnum 700 pickup is customisable ‘beyond any form of conformity’. Just about everything, including the body, hood, front grille, callipers, brakes, and wheel rims, can be painted in bespoke colours, and orders can be placed for bespoke trim for the seats, steering wheel, stitching, cockpit upholstery, and full door panels.
The Magnum 700 is a ‘masterful combination of power and style’, says Militem, adding that it’s 'American tech, Italian made.’
You’ll need deep pockets to afford this particular ‘Big Toy.’ You can place your order now, with prices starting from €164,950 (£140,800) plus VAT, with a healthy amount to be added if you’re looking for customisation. On the plus side, every Militem product has European type approval and is covered by a full European warranty of 36 months or 62,000 miles. So that makes up for it.
