Maxus eDeliver 5 electric van poised for April debut

Maxus is building its electric van line-up in the UK, with the imminent addition of the eDeliver 5.

The new van will sit between the compact eDeliver 3 and the newly launched eDeliver 7, rivalling stylish options such as the Volkswagen ID Buzz Cargo and the rather more conventional Vauxhall Vivaro and Ford Transit Custom.

In its home market in China, where it’s called the Dana V1, the van has a 95hp motor driven by a 51kWh battery pack. However, as the eDeliver 5 will share much of its platform with the larger eDeliver 7, we suspect it could mirror the larger van with the same 77kWh battery pack and 204hp electric motor. In a compact, lighter van, performance should be spritely.

Ahead of its launch, Maxus is staying quiet about specifics. However, we’d expect the new van to provide a range of more than 225 miles, with rapid charging at 80kW, allowing users to recharge the battery from 20 to 80% in around 35 minutes.

At 4.8 metres long—or 20cm shorter than a Vauxhall Vivaro—the eDeliver 5 should offer a cargo volume somewhere between 5 and 6m3. For comparison, the smaller eDeliver 3 provides up to 4.8m3, while the larger eDeliver 7 reaches up to 6.7m3.

Payloads are also currently under wraps, but with the eDeliver 7's impressive limit of 1,200kg, the eDeliver 5 is anticipated to reach limits of up to 1,000kg. Maxus will, of course, detail the official figures at the vehicle’s UK launch.

The load box, however large it ends up being, is easy to access. It has sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle and barn-door-style rear doors. The floor height is 520mm, which will also ensure that manual loading is easier.

The eDeliver 5 is expected to be available in two body lengths, with converters and bodybuilders able to choose a chassis cab.

While fairly minimalist, the cabin promises a 12.3-inch infotainment screen at the centre of the dashboard, with another smaller digital screen displaying information in the driver’s instrument panel. There are ample practical storage solutions around the cabin, with 18 storage spaces throughout the passenger area, totalling around 100 litres, giving plenty of room to stow everything you could need neatly.

The eDeliver 5 will make its first public appearance at the Commercial Vehicle Show in April, where it will be displayed alongside the rest of the Maxus range. Pricing will not be announced until the vehicle's launch, while first deliveries in the UK are expected towards the end of the year.

I would definitely recommend Select Car Leasing. They have been very helpful and efficient during the whole process. They always called me back and the online portal to track your order is very useful.
