Iveco is expanding its electric line-up with a new light commercial vehicle, thanks to its ongoing partnership with Korean manufacturer Hyundai.
The new all-electric LCV will be supplied by Hyundai, based on its Global eLCV platform.
The collaborative LCV will join the Iveco eDaily in the brand’s electric line-up, and will be the first model outside of Korea to use Hyundai’s Global EV platform designed for commercial vehicles between 2.5 and 3.5 tonnes.
The low-floor design means that cargo loading and unloading is made easier, with Hyundai’s electric platform being designed to suit the emerging and future needs of the electrified LCV market.
The partnership will see Iveco-badged chassis cab vehicles manufactured by Hyundai supplied to European markets. The vehicles will then be customised and distributed locally, exclusively through Iveco’s sales channels.
The new eLCV is expected to be launched by Iveco at the IAA Transportation 2024 show, scheduled to take place in Hannover, Germany, on 16–22 September.
This new model is part of Hyundai’s electric onslaught — the manufacturer is launching 17 models, including an electric van, under its own badge, as well as licensing technologies to other partners such as Iveco.
Luca Sra, president of the truck business unit, Iveco Group:
“The unique partnership between Iveco Group and Hyundai Motor Company is making another significant step forward. The introduction of this new all-electric vehicle is particularly exciting for the European market, where urban and suburban distribution and delivery are crucial missions for logistics operators. We are confident that this agreement will not only strengthen our product offering but will also deepen our relationship with Hyundai, paving the way for continued collaborative projects that advance a more sustainable society.”
Ken Ramírez, executive vice president and head of global commercial vehicle & hydrogen business, Hyundai Motor Company:
“We are delighted to further expand our partnership’s product portfolio by leveraging our new, all-electric light commercial vehicle platform. We believe our Global eLCV platform, coupled with Iveco Group’s expertise in the European market, will be a transformative force in the LCV market, contributing to the acceleration of a carbon-neutral future in Europe.”
