- Farizon electric SuperVan revealed
- Will be launched in UK in 2025
- Similar size to Ford Transit Custom
- Gets 225-mile max range and 1.3-tonne max payload
A new player will join the UK van market in 2025 as the Farizon SV arrives on our shores. The SV is Farizon Auto’s first foray into the competitive European LCV market, and the company promises it will bring advanced technology and solutions to businesses as they work towards the transition to zero-emissions vehicle fleets.
According to the UK team, the Farizon SV — which is already on sale in China, where it’s known as the SuperVan — was designed specifically for the European market. Having been built on an electric platform from the off, fewer compromises have been made than with models that have used traditional van platforms.
Andy Carroll, Farizon’s UK country manager: “The Farizon SV was developed for the van users and fleets of today and tomorrow, and several world-first advanced technologies means it offers more cargo space, greater range and a more convenient and comfortable driver experience.”
One of those innovations is the drive-by-wire system, with Farizon the first to use it in the global van market. The system improves safety, handling and energy conservation, reducing stopping distances by 10% and increasing steering response by 300%.
Battery range on the SV is expected to be between 205 and 225 miles, increasing to around 342 miles in urban settings, from WLTP testing of the 67kWh and 83kWh battery packs. A 106kWh option is expected to be added at a later date. Carroll hinted that the real-world range could be more impressive, as the company intends to “underpromise and overdeliver in terms of range.”
The design of the SV offers customers a balance between capacity and size as it straddles the market’s medium and large van segments. It’s comparable to the Renault Master (L3H3) at the top end of the scale and the Ford Transit Custom (L1H1) at the other, ensuring businesses have flexibility across multiple industries.
Payload and cargo capacity are naturally the key focus, with the SV able to accommodate from 6.9m³ to 13m³ — the equivalent of slightly more than a Ford Transit Custom and a little less than a Renault Master E-Tech. The payload capacity is competitive, too, ranging from 1.1–1.3 tonnes. The gross vehicle weight (GVW) is 3.5 tonnes, with towing limits anticipated to be 2,000kg.
Drivers will appreciate the absence of the B pillar, which gives unobstructed access from the cab to the cargo area. With a loading height of just over 50cm, unloading and loading should be a doddle.
In the cab, there’s a satisfying balance between practicality and technology. The 12.3-inch infotainment screen allows access to key functions, and there are USB-A and USB-C ports for charging and connectivity. Not all functions are controlled via the touchscreen system, with essential operations accessible using the physical buttons, making them less of a distraction for the driver and ultimately safer.
Farizon has completed extensive testing of the vehicles in environments as diverse as the Middle East and Norway, covering over a million miles. Based on the testing, Farizon has backed itself in terms of reliability and will be offering a competitive four-year or 120,000-mile warranty.
It has gone the extra mile in terms of advanced driver aids, too, with the SV expected to meet, or exceed, every European safety and sustainability standard.
The Farizon SV is expected to be available to the UK market in early 2025, with the first deliveries likely to happen in late spring or just after.
A Jameel Motors flagship dealership is anticipated in London, with a network of 5-10 expertise centres planned across the country. A national mobile service network will support dealers and customers.
Full UK specifications and pricing are yet to be announced, with full details set to be revealed closer to the 2025 launch.
