E.ON Next and Select Car Leasing have announced a new partnership to offer customers a year of free electric vehicle (EV) charging miles – equal to 8,000 miles – in the form of £134 energy credit.
With enough miles to drive the equivalent of London to Johannesburg, customers can unlock even more value with £75 off the installation of a home charge point, to make a total saving of £209.
Through the partnership, drivers who lease an EV or plug-in hybrid through Select Car Leasing, via E.ON Next’s Drive tariff, can unlock:
✅ £134 of energy credit on their account
✅ £75 off an E.ON Next EV charger installed at their home
✅ Access hundreds of EVs and plug-in hybrid deals.
By charging from 12am – 7am, during E.ON Next Drive’s low off-peak electricity rate of just 6.7p per kilowatt hour (kWh)2, the £134 credit can achieve 8,000 miles when driving a range of efficient EVs, including the Tesla Model Y, the Mini Electric or the Fiat 500e, which can achieve around 4 miles per kWh.
Julian Lennertz, Chief Commercial Officer for E.ON Next (above), said: “We’re working with Select Car Leasing to offer our customers another way to save money on their energy bills. We want to make new energy work for everyone living in the UK as part of our transition to clean power, and to be a playmaker in this space. By making electric driving more affordable we’re giving customers another great reason to make the switch from petrol or diesel.”
Despite electric vehicles accounting for a record share of the UK market last year, just one in ten private buyers opted for an EV in 2024, with over 60% still choosing petrol3.
Mark Tongue, CEO and Co-Founder at Select Car Leasing (above), said: “EVs come with enormous benefits, helping motorists to radically reduce their fuel bills while also making a positive impact on the environment in comparison to petrol or diesel. Yet we know that convincing drivers to make the switch to EVs poses certain challenges, particularly when it comes to things like home charging and choosing the best energy supplier. Our fantastic new partnership with E.ON Next cuts through those complications and allows consumers to choose an EV with confidence while also taking advantage of generous cost savings.”
Shane Pither, Head of Select Electric (above), said: ”There are now so many attractive electric vehicles to choose from - whether it’s to do the school run, travel to work or to accommodate your annual camping trip – that there really is no reason for you not to join the green revolution. We’re delighted to be working with E.ON Next to build a more affordable electric journey for all our customers.”
E.ON Next Drive is a fixed EV tariff for home charging, which has the longest overnight off-peak period in the market 12am – 7am. Plus the tariff is powered by 100% renewable electricity.4
