Leasing a pure electric Volvo C40 Recharge is about to get even more affordable, after the Swedish firm unveiled a new single motor version of its compact SUV.
In case you need a recap, the XC40 Recharge is Volvo’s ‘lifestyle’ offering in this segment, while the C40 Recharge offers a lower, sleeker, more coupe-like appearance.
Both have been given a facelift this week to boost their appeal.
And it’s the tweaks to the C40 Recharge that really catch the eye.
Up until now, the C40 Recharge was a dual-motor affair, coming with a 78-kWh battery, a range of up to 274 miles between charges and a 0-62mph time of just 4.7 seconds.
This new single motor offering, on the other hand, uses a smaller 69kWh battery to power the front wheels yet still has a range of up to 269 miles between charges. And it should also prove friendlier on your wallet in terms of monthly leasing costs; in the base ‘Core’ trim, the single motor C40 Recharge starts at around £44,800 while the dual-motor model begins at around £55,500.
That price difference should translate to some tempting lease offers in due course - with deliveries set to arrive in quarter three of this year.
Meanwhile the battery on the single motor C40 Recharge can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent capacity in approximately 32 minutes on a fast-charging system - welcome news for anyone getting jittery about rising petrol and diesel prices.
The XC40 Recharge, on the other hand, has had more of a cosmetic nip and tuck.
It has received a new front bumper and a frameless grille plate, which brings the styling more in line with its C40 Recharge sibling.
State-of-the-art, self-dimming pixel LED light technology also joins the range.
Meanwhile there are new leather-free upholstery options as well as fresh exterior colours and alloy wheels.
Robin Page, Head of Design at Volvo Cars, says:
“As we move towards becoming a fully electric company, our design language follows. With the refreshed fully electric XC40, we continue to evolve its instantly recognisable design, creating a more modern face with a sleeker front and an even more integrated grille.”
