All-new VW Tiguan revealed

Volkswagen has premiered its new-look Tiguan SUV - and it’ll be available quicker than you might expect.

The Tiguan sits between the smaller T-Roc and the larger Touareg in the VW range, and it has long been a car that’ll cope with the demands of family life.

In fact, the Tiguan is one of the most successful VW models in the world today, with more than 7.6 million people having enjoyed one since it was first released back in 2007.

This third gen Tiguan gets a makeover both inside and out.

There’s a bold new front end, complete with a glass-covered horizontal strip, as well as a new horizontal LED at the back which ‘adds emphasis to the unmistakable Tiguan rear end’, says VW.

As before, you can enjoy the Tiguan with petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, or petrol plug-in hybrid engines. Again, as before, there will also be a fully-fledged performance 'R' model with power of around 320 PS.

But the big news here is that the plug-in hybrid Tiguan can now go further than ever using battery power alone, after the electric range was DOUBLED. It’s gone from a maximum of 30 miles with the outgoing model, to a new figure of 62 miles with this new version.

That’s some increase, and it could really help to lower bills, particularly if you’re a company car lease customer looking for a low Benefit in Kind (BIK) rate.

Inside the cabin there’s a new cockpit and infotainment system, as well as a complete redesign of the entire space. The rotary dial in the central console has also been given its own screen - which sits right on top of the dial itself - to help better explain what it is that you’re fiddling with.

The Tiguan should ride better on the road, too. The adaptive chassis control has been revamped, with the option of a ‘DCC Pro’ system that boasts two-valve shock absorbers.

You also get a ‘Vehicle Dynamics Manager’ as standard. This makes subtle adjustments to the suspension and braking while you’re on the go to make the Tiguan ‘more stable, agile and precise’, particularly when you’re pushing it.

There’s a bunch of standard-fit safety systems, including lane change assist, autonomous emergency braking, and a rear view camera.

Meanwhile because the Tiguan has actually increased in length, you also get more room in the boot - up 37 litres to 652 litres overall.

VW says the new model will reach dealerships as early as the first quarter of 2024, with order books due to open soon.

And in the meantime, you can lease the current Volkswagen Tiguan with Select Car Leasing from £277 per month*.
