Feast your eyes on the ID.7 - a new executive electric saloon from Volkswagen.
VW has been teasing the ID.7 for a good few months now, as it has recently been undergoing winter testing ahead of full production.
But this is the first we’ve seen of the ID.7 without a disguised exterior.
And looking at these pics, it’s going to be a worthy competitor to the Tesla Model 3.
Let’s get the important bits out of the way first. The ID.7 will have power of 286 PS and a range of up to 434 miles between charges. That’s right up there with the very best in class, including the Mercedes-Benz EQS.
VW is promising a charging capacity at speeds of up to 200 kW, which should replenish the battery in no time at all.
Meanwhile the swooping coupe styling doesn’t just look the part, it’s ultra-aerodynamic, too.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, says:
“With the ID.7 we are taking the next step in our electric offensive. The limousine offers a high level of comfort and long ranges.”
The ID.7 will be the flagship of VW’s ID range - ahead of the ID.5 SUV-coupe.
And because it’s the top dog, the ID.7 will get all manner of creature comforts fitted as standard.
They include a 15 inch infotainment screen, an augmented reality head-up display, and a new air conditioning system accessed via the touchscreen.
Lease customers will also get the option of a ‘smart’ panoramic sunroof - which can be switched from opaque to transparent - at the touch of a button, as well as massage seats and a 700-watt sound system from Harman Kardon.
There’s semi-autonomous driving tech on board, including the VW 'Travel Assist' system, which can support ‘assisted lane changing on the multi-lane motorway at speeds above 90 km/h. The driver monitors this, but the strain of driving is significantly reduced’, according to VW.
The ID.7 will be able to park itself at the touch of a button, too.
