The Vauxhall Mokka Electric has upped its game - with order books now open for a Long Range model that’ll journey up to 252 miles between charges.
Prior to this eye-catching update, the popular Mokka Electric was offered with a 50 kWh battery that gave it a range of up to 206 miles between trips to the plug.
Now, though, Vauxhall is also giving lease customers the option of choosing a larger 54 kWh unit, which boosts the range by 20 per cent and gives decent efficiency of 4.1 miles per kWh.
Besides the new battery, the Mokka Electric has also been handed a new ‘quieter’ motor, which increases the power from 136 PS to 156 PS.
The Mokka Electric Long Range is quicker off the mark than the regular version, too, with the 0-62mph spring taking place in 9 seconds.
The Vauxhall Mokka Long Range also gets a heat pump fitted as standard, which will help you maximise the range even when it’s Baltic outside.
As with the rest of the fully electric Vauxhall range, the Mokka Electric Long Range supports 100kW DC rapid charging, with a 20%-80% charge taking just 27 minutes.
A three-phase 11kW AC onboard charger is par for the course, which means a 20-80% charge takes around 40 hours 40 mins using a 7kW home wallbox.
A Vauxhall spokesperson said: “The Mokka was the first Vauxhall to be available with a fully electric powertrain from launch and customers can now choose between two powertrain options on the Mokka Electric. The existing 136 PS powertrain will remain available alongside the new Long Range variant, with its 50kWh battery offering a range of up to 209 miles (WLTP).”
Entry-level ‘Design’ variants of the Mokka Electric come loaded with 17-inch alloys, a 7-inch colour touchscreen, full smartphone connectivity, a flat-bottomed leather steering wheel, panoramic rear camera, and safety tech like lane keep assist.
You can lease a Vauxhall Mokka Electric with Select Car Leasing from £544 per month*. It's a rival to competitors like the Peugeot e-2008 and the Jeep Avenger.
