Dacia has treated its affordable Sandero hatchback and Sandero Stepway crossover to a low-key update which brings added power and extra equipment.
The Sandero Stepway can now be leased with a more powerful ‘TCe 110’ petrol engine which comes with 110 hp - up significantly on the entry-level motor’s 90 hp - and which is exclusively available with the range-topping ‘Extreme’ trim level.
That unit is capable of returning 45 miles to the gallon and you’ll be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in a leisurely 10 seconds when using the six-speed manual gearbox.
When it comes to the Sandero hatch, Dacia has introduced a brand new trim, ‘Journey’, which has been borrowed from the rugged Dacia Duster SUV.
The Journey grade now tops the range - ousting the ‘Expression’ level from first position - and comes with automatic air conditioning, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, an electronic parking brake, Blind Spot Warning and the ‘MediaNav’ infotainment system with an 8-inch screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Lease customers can also expect a shark-fin antenna, unique ‘Randia’ 16-inch alloy wheels and black door mirrors.
Perhaps crucially, the Journey trim levels also sees the re-introduction of an automatic gearbox for the Sandero - something that hasn’t been available for a year or so.
And don’t forget it’s a bona fide award winner, having been named ‘Supermini of the Year’ by Auto Express in 2023.
