Check out Toyota’s chunky new ‘Urban SUV Concept’, an eye-catching crossover that’s being earmarked for a European launch in 2024.
The Toyota bZ4X debuted as the manufacturer’s first electric vehicle last year. And the bZ4X is a fairly big car, rivalling the Volkswagen ID.4 or Ford Mustang Mach E.
This new Urban SUV Concept, however, is a more compact affair that’ll be looking to take-on smaller competitors like the Volvo EX30 and the Peugeot E-2008.
And, speaking at the annual ‘Kenshiki’ forum in Brussels, Toyota says a production-ready model will be given a proper launch in the first half of 2024.
We don’t yet know precisely what’ll be powering the new electric crossover, but Toyota reckons it’ll have ‘two battery options to suit different customer priorities of driving range and accessibility’, while also being offered with front or all-wheel drive.
A company spokesperson told Select: “Toyota already enjoys prominence in the B-SUV segment with the hybrid electric Yaris Cross, the best-selling model in its class. It has drawn on this experience in the development of an authentic battery electric SUV that has versatility designed-in and which meets the priorities of European customers. It will also deliver the quality, durability and reliability that are hallmarks of the Toyota brand.”
Toyota plans to introduce six dedicated EVs by 2026.
