This is the new Tesla Model 3 Performance - and it’s an even sharper track weapon.
In case you need a refresher, the Model 3 is available to lease in three different flavours - the entry-level ‘Rear-Wheel Drive’, the ‘Long Range All-Wheel Drive’, and the most desirable ‘Performance’.
And it’s the top spec Performance Model 3 has been treated to an upgrade, with the regular Model 3 having been facelifted last year.
The latest Performance variants now get power of 460hp - a modest rise of around 3hp compared with the outgoing model - which equates to a blistering 0-60mph pace of just 2.9 seconds. That comes courtesy of two electric motors and all-wheel drive.
And it means the most potent Model 3 would comfortably win a drag race against the Porsche Taycan 4S.
But what’s perhaps even more eye-catching about the new Model 3 Performance is that it has been handed an all-new adaptive damping system that ‘keeps Model 3 planted while you corner or take on bumps’, says Tesla.
There’s also a dedicated ‘Track Mode V3’ for when you do venture onto the race circuit. Track Mode gives you the ability to customise the Model 3’s handling, stability controls and regenerative braking, so that you can really get your foot down.
On the outside, the Model 3 Performance sits lower than other Model 3s in the line-up, and you’ll also find a more aggressive front end as well as a boot spoiler and full-fat diffuser at the rear.
Lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels are unique to the Model 3 Performance and have been designed to offer ‘increased traction out of corners and optimised aerodynamics’, according to the US manufacturer.
Inside the cabin, lease customers will find new ventilated sports seats with enhanced bolstering to hold you in place and keep you comfortable on longer trips.
All in all, it’s a significant update - and one that’ll go down well with Tesla fans.
The new Tesla Model 3 Performance is priced from £59,990 to buy outright. And you can lease one with Select Car Leasing from £894 per month.
