Muscular new Suzuki S-Cross SUV now roomier than ever

If you’re a lease customer who knows that every inch of cabin space matters, you’ll need to check out the new and improved Suzuki S-Cross SUV.

The S-Cross, first launched in 2015, is a popular choice as a practical family car. In a crowded marketplace, it goes up against the likes of the Peugeot 3008, Vauxhall Mokka or SEAT Ateca.

And now, thanks to a significant update that brings bold new styling and more interior room in the cabin, it’s an even more tempting proposition.

The powertrain remains the same as with the outgoing S-Cross.

A 1.4 litre petrol engine is married to a 48 v mild-hybrid system that returns upwards of 52 miles to the gallon and produces just 120 g/km of CO2.

As Suzuki points out, that’s more economical than a whole host of major competitors - including the mild-hybrid Nissan Qashqai or the mild-hybrid Hyundai Tucson. And you could save a bundle on your fuel costs each month if you regularly rack-up the miles.

The exterior of the 2022 model now boasts a ‘more muscular design’, according to Suzuki, and which ‘enhances its presence with larger and more angular wheel arches and smooth flowing lines’.

The bonnet line has been raised to make it look more imposing while there’s a piano black front grille and new LED headlamps. You also get roof rails and an integrated rear spoiler - alongside what Suzuki says is ‘a more spacious and versatile interior and an even higher standard and safety specification than the previous model.’

There are two variants to choose from - the base ‘Motion’ and the range-topping ‘Ultra’. If you want all-wheel-drive, the Ultra is the one you need, coming with Suzuki’s ‘ALLGRIP’ AWD system as standard.

Speaking of that traction-boosting tech, the ALLGRIP has been bolstered by the addition of a ‘feed forward function that allocates torque to the rear wheels before any slippage can occur’, the Japanese firm reveals.

And yet standard, two-wheel-drive Motion models are also ridiculously well-specced.

You get, as standard, Adaptive Cruise Control, Dual Sensor Brake Support with Automated Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor, front and rear parking sensors and heated front seats.

Moving up to Ultra adds 17-inch polished alloy wheels, leather seat upholstery, integrated on-board navigation, a panoramic sliding sunroof and a 360 view camera.

A Suzuki spokesperson adds: “The Suzuki S-Cross has earned high acclaim for its stylish design, compact and easy to manage dimensions, good on-road performance as well as off-road capability with its optional ALLGRIP Select 4x4 system.

“It is now replaced by an all-new model which takes advantage of Suzuki’s long established expertise in packaging vehicles above their class with flexibility, an even higher level of safety equipment and the latest technology to meet the diverse needs of both driver and passengers.”

Priced from £24,999, it goes on sale in January 2022.

I would definitely recommend Select Car Leasing. They have been very helpful and efficient during the whole process. They always called me back and the online portal to track your order is very useful.
