- New Skoda Kodiaq vRS revealed
- 20 PS power increase to 265 PS
- ‘blends sportiness with everyday practicality’
- Prices yet to be confirmed
Need to get the family and the dog to the local park in double-quick time? You’ll want to check out the latest Skoda Kodiaq vRS.
The vRS model is the sportiest and most performance-oriented version of Skoda’s big seven-seat SUV.
When it was last available to lease, having recently disappeared from the Czech firm’s line-up, it was up for grabs with power of 245 PS.
Now, though, the hot load-lugger is back - and the power has now been raised to 265 PS, courtesy of a more gutsy 2.0-litre TSI ‘EVO’ petrol engine.
It means the Kodiaq vRS - with a little help via the standard-fit all-wheel drive and 400 Nm of torque - can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.4 seconds, which is 0.2 of a second quicker than the old variant.
There are gloss black exterior details spanning from back to front as well as sporty bumpers and a front grille with a horizontal light strip.
Ventilated brake discs on all four wheels and two-piston brake calipers on the front axle provide the necessary stopping power.
A 7-speed DSG transmission is included as standard, as is progressive steering and a ‘Dynamic Sound Boost’ system that enhances the exhaust note and brings an ‘emotive engine sound’, says Skoda.
The rest of the standard-issue kit list is also impressive. It includes LED Matrix headlights, Skoda’s advance ‘Plus’ dynamic chassis control, a Driving Mode Select system that includes a ‘Snow’ or ‘Off Road’ set-up, and a Canton stereo.
Lease customers can also expect a free-standing 13-inch infotainment system alongside a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit.
You’ve got a choice of two cabins - entry-level ‘Lounge’ or range-topping ‘Suite’.
The Lounge interior brings microsuede and artificial leather upholstery and sports seats.
The optional ‘Suite’ cabin adds extras like front seat ventilation and unique perforated leather upholstery.
Skoda’s Johannes Neft said: “The most dynamic Kodiaq perfectly blends sportiness with everyday practicality.”
Pricing is yet to be announced and we expect the Skoda Kodiaq vRS to arrive properly early next year.
Alternatives to the Skoda Kodiaq vRS will include the new CUPRA Terramar as well as more premium rivals like the Audi SQ7.
