Skoda’s mid-sized Karoq SUV has picked-up a top industry award - and it should be on your leasing wish list, too.
The Karoq was introduced back in 2017 and sits between the smaller Kamiq and the larger, seven-seat Kodiaq in the Skoda range.
And when it comes to family load luggers, the Karoq really delivers.
Magazine Auto Express has just named the Karoq ‘Used Car of The Year for 2022’.
The journos there reckon the Karoq has ‘something for everyone: quality, practicality, value, low running costs and plenty of driving satisfaction’.
With used car prices rocketing, you should also take a look at a Karoq lease - with leasing prices here at Select starting at around £229 per month*.
So what’s the Karoq all about, and why should you lease one?
The first thing to know about the Karoq is that there’s a good choice of traditional engines available, depending on which trim you opt for.
There are three petrol units up for grabs - a 1.0 litre petrol with power of 110 PS, a 1.5 litre petrol with increased power of 150 PS, and a range-topping 2.0 litre TSI with 190 PS.
If you’re looking for maximum fuel efficiency, you might want to consider the 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine, which has power of up to 150 PS and can return close to 60 miles to the gallon when paired with a manual gearbox.
Crucially, both the 2.0 TSI and the 2.0 TDI diesel can be mated to an all-wheel-drive system, giving the Karoq some serious off-road credentials.
Overall there are three trim levels available - base SE Drive, mid-range SE L, and range-topping Sportline models.
The entry-level variant comes really well equipped as standard, ensuring the Karoq makes a great alternative to rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai or the Kia Sportage.
The SE Drive Karoq enjoys 17 inch alloys, an 8 inch infotainment screen with sat nav, rear parking sensors, and Skoda’s ‘Front Assist’ collision-alert safety system, which uses sophisticated radar to sense impending danger and can even apply the brakes automatically if needed.
SE L versions add extras like heated front seats, a rear parking camera and microsuede upholstery.
Meanwhile the Sportline Karoq gets 19 inch alloys, sport seats, a heated leather steering wheel, panoramic sunroof and an electrically-operated boot with ‘virtual pedal’.
