Cars and motorcycles from the small screen will star at a festival for petrolheads this summer - and the bash is being sponsored by Select Car Leasing.
The Weekender - organised by automotive specialists Krazy Horse - takes place for the very first time on the 7th, 8th and 9th July 2023 at Bardwell, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
And not only will guests enjoy bands, beer and mouth-watering street food, they’ll also be able to get up close and personal with two and four-wheeled TV icons.
On display will be an Indian Scout motorcycle used by presenter Guy Martin in Channel 4’s Guy Martin's Wall of Death: Live, in which he set a new world record for defying gravity on the largest Wall of Death ever constructed.
Meanwhile festival-goers can also run the rule over everything from American muscle cars from the 60s and 70s to steam cars from the early 1900s - and pretty much everything in between.
The Weekender is the brainchild of engineer and entrepreneur Paul Beamish (below) and the team of volunteers from Suffolk’s Bardfest annual music festival.
Beamish is the founder of Krazy Horse, a bike and car dealership selling motorcycles from the likes of Indian and Norton, as well as new and used cars from Morgan, Caterham and Dodge and RAM Trucks.
Krazy Horse is headquartered in Bury St Edmunds but has showrooms in central London, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, and Welling, south west London. It’s also a buzzing social hub that holds regular car and bike meets.
And custom bike builder Paul says The Weekender is unique in that it’s a festival for both motorcycle and car enthusiasts.
He says: “I’ve always been into both cars and bikes and a lot of our customers are the same. There will be something for everyone to enjoy at The Weekender.
“We’ll have a specially curated collection of the sorts of cars and bikes that come to our Krazy Horse Late Night events. That includes a whole host of classic American cars, from 1930s originals to hot rods and 60s and 70s muscle cars. You’ll see lots of pick-up trucks, legendary Volkswagens, and even supercars.
“We’ve also got a few of the bikes we’ve built for Guy Martin over the years.
“And, most importantly, all of the bands will be undercover in our fantastic big top, so you don’t have to worry about the British weather ruining the fun.”
The Bury St Edmunds Office of Select Car Leasing is one of the sponsors of the Krazy Horse Weekender.
Alan Beckett (above), Principal at the Select Bury St Edmunds Office, says: “We are so proud and excited to be involved in this new event. Select Car Leasing previously supported Bardfest and we’ve worked alongside Krazy Horse for many years.
“So, we jumped at the opportunity to sponsor The Weekender. We are also using the event as our annual Select summer social - and everyone in the team can’t wait for the music, beers and, of course, the huge variety of cars and bikes.”
Some of the bands confirmed for The Weekender include classic Milk and Alcohol rockers Dr Feelgood, rockabilly outfit The Kopy Katz, and up-and-coming local band The Vitamins.
There will also be a dedicated shopping village at the festival.
The Weekender is a not-for-profit venture that will funnel proceeds from the festival back to charities in Suffolk.
Other sponsors of the festival, alongside Select Car Leasing, include Bedfords, ChassisCab Truck Centres, Denny Bros Ltd and 4i Pumping Services Ltd.
Select Car Leasing Bury St Edmunds was launched in 2020.
Prior to that, in 2001, Alan Beckett and fellow director Tony Davis had established ‘Genus Leasing’ to provide cars and vans to both businesses and personal customers.
Over the course of two decades, Genus grew from a small office attached to the side of Tony’s house, to becoming a regional Appointed Representative of Select Car Leasing, with a key emphasis on providing a high level of service that creates clients for life.
