Select Car Leasing continues expansion with radical ‘revamp’ of ‘Select Electric’ division

Since 2019 Select Car Leasing has had a dedicated ‘Select Electric’ web presence, offering an extensive range of hybrid lease and electric lease vehicles as part of it's overall van and car leasing offering.

'Select Electric' enjoyed a high profile outing at the recent 2021 British Motor Show in Farnborough, Hampshire, with the firm sponsoring the ‘Select Electric Motor Show’ as part of the event.

In a further boost to the electric vehicle offering from the business, Select Car Leasing reveals how a recruitment drive has lit the fire under the Select Electric brand, with a specialist new team put together to ensure it can meet the needs of both personal contract hire and business lease customers in their desire of battery electric vehicles.

Additionally, the Select Electric website has also been reinvigorated to include everything from helpful guides covering grants, charging costs and battery life, as well as all the latest electric and hybrid vehicle news from all the major manufacturers.

Shane Pither, Select Car Leasing's Head of Automotive Innovation, commented:

“At the end of 2020, the Government announced a ban on the sale and leasing of new petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030 onwards.
“Since then, Select Car Leasing has noticed a considerable uptick in enquiries into electric cars and vans. The Government has sent a strong signal. And people are starting to adjust their vehicle leasing habits. We want to be at the forefront of that change.”

Select Car Leasing enjoys a total fleet of over 55,000 vehicles and has more than 250 staff members around 12 locations nationwide.

EV PR 1

And David Lewis, Electric Lead at Select, says increasing the number of staff dedicated to electric vehicles, as well as enhancing that team’s knowledge of this new and complex automotive area, has been paramount in recent weeks.

Lewis reveals: “Select Electric was the spur to transform our approach to EV from top to bottom. We’re revamping our website to help visitors work out whether electric motoring is right for them.

“For example, we have a new Electric Guide section, full of tips and advice on topics such as battery range, charging, potential fuel savings, and deciphering the complicated jargon around electric vehicles.  All of these are presented to our leasing consultants on a weekly rota as a training tool.

“We’ve also been on a recruitment drive and now have an expert team of car leasing consultants focussed purely on electric vehicle leads. They live and breathe the world of electrified motoring and their passion and knowledge is inspiring our customers to make the jump to environmentally friendly driving.”

Tom Falconer, Head of Learning & Development at Select, adds:

“All our customer-facing staff are undergo rigorous ongoing training to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest EV and electric car lease developments. We run regular, live sessions delivered by industry experts, as well as providing high-impact, targeted modules via our bespoke Learning Management System.”

Select enjoys well established partnerships with the major global automotive distributors and retailers, as well as the UK’s major motor finance companies, securing the best car lease deals in the market.

It’s also not just the largest Personal Vehicle Leasing brokerage in the UK, it’s also the most recommended leasing business in the country, according to Trustpilot.

In June this year, Select was announced as the Principal Partner of Reading Football Club in what represents a record commercial deal for the Royals - who now play in the Select Car Leasing Stadium in the English Championship division.

Meanwhile, Select co-owner Mark Tongue says the entire language of motoring is changing rapidly - and he’s doing all he can to ensure his firm are thought leaders as the industry marches towards the Government’s decisive ‘net-zero’ target.

He says: “We strive every day to make Select Car Leasing 100% relevant to the changing needs of our customers.

“Where once it was enough to talk about MPG, cylinders and cubic capacity, now we need to embrace and promote miles per kWh, AC and DC charging rates, battery range and the like. As the language and structure of motoring changes before our very eyes, so too must Select to maintain our lead into the future.”
