Say hello to the most eye-catching Renault Clio in the entire range - the new ‘Lutecia’ model.
What does ‘Lutecia’ mean, we hear you ask? Well, it’s the ancient name for Paris, Renault tells us. And like the so-called City of Light, the Lutecia ups the ante when it comes to the style stakes.
Sitting above the previously range-topping RS Line Clio, what marks the Lutecia out as being special is its Diamond Black metallic paint and contrasting brass detailing. You’ll find those brass accents on the front grille, side skirts, alloys and rear bumpers.
Powering the Lutecia is a turbocharged petrol TCe 90 engine, which combines decent performance with frugal fuel economy of up to 53.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 119g/km.
And it comes absolutely loaded with tech.
Standard features include a heated leather steering wheel, heated seats, Blind Spot Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Detector, 17-inch Viva Stella alloy wheels and modal fabric upholstery made of Tencel fibre with brass piping.
You also get extra tinted windows, a 9.3-inch ‘EASY LINK’ touchscreen with satellite navigation and a shark fin antenna.
And lease customers will also enjoy climate control, ambient lighting, selectable driving modes, front parking sensors and rear-view camera, electronic parking brake with autohold, and a 7-inch TFT driver infotainment display.
There’s also a raft of safety features fitted as standard, including Hill Start Assist, Active Emergency Braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Emergency Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) and Renault Automatic Emergency Assist.
The only bad news is that the Lutecia is limited to just 300 models in the UK.
Renault says the car’s ‘rarity’ and ‘extensive specification’ will ‘ensure the Lutecia Limited Edition is certain to be a hit with Clio buyers who are looking for a highly desirable version of the iconic supermini.’
A spokesperson for the firm adds: “The arrival of the Lutecia Limited Edition further strengthens the latest generation Clio range. It reaffirms how the most recent Clio combines features that are usually reserved for larger and more expensive cars, with competitive running costs and advanced technology that works to protect drivers and other road users.”
The Clio is also available in Play, Iconic, S Edition and R.S. Line trim levels - all of which should prove attractive for any lease customers looking for an alternative to cars like the Vauxhall Corsa, Peugeot 208 or the Ford Fiesta.
