The Renault Austral E-Tech Hybrid will be available to lease this summer - and here’s everything you need to know about the three different trim levels.
The Austral is a medium sized SUV that’ll compete with heavyweights like the Kia Sportage and the Nissan Qashqai. It’s got some work to do, then, because those are strong competitors.
Here in the UK the Austral is up for grabs as a full-hybrid ‘E-Tech’ only - a system that doesn’t need to be plugged in and which marries a 1.2 litre petrol engine with a 400v battery.
They combine to create decent power of 202 PS, boost fuel economy of up to 61 miles to the gallon, and keep CO2 emissions as low as 105g/km.
Another of the Austral’s big plus points is its roomy interior, which comes complete with a sliding rear bench of seats and a maximum luggage capacity of 555 litres. That’s almost as spacious as a big estate like the Audi A6 Avant.
The Austral’s infotainment system has Google built into it automatically, giving you access to dozens of apps, and the SUV is also packing up to 30 different Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) systems to make sure you stay safe on the road.
Now, as the Austral’s arrival draws near, Renault has revealed precisely what lease customers can expect from the three different trims - Techno, Techno Esprit Alpine, and Iconic Esprit Alpine.
Techno
The techno starts the range, and gets 19 inch alloys, matrix LED vision headlights, mirage-effect rear LED lights, flush roof bars, a shark fin antenna, surround parking sensors with rear-view camera, and hands-free key card with keyless entry.
The sliding rear bench of seats is standard for all Australs.
And you also get a 12 inch touchscreen, 9.3 inch head-up display, automatic dual-zone air conditioning with air purifier, and an 8-speaker Arkamys audio system.
That’s a whole lot of kit for an entry level model.
Techno Esprit Alpine
This mid-range model sits on larger 20 inch wheels and gets special Esprit Alpine detailing, including on the Alcantara upholstery.
The kit list also includes heated and massage function front seats, heated steering wheel and a powered tailgate.
In terms of driver assistance and safety systems, this trim level is also enhanced with adaptive cruise control with lane centring, alongside traffic & speed sign recognition with overspeed prevention.
Iconic Esprit Alpine
Sitting at the top of the range is the Iconic Esprit Alpine trim.
It gets Renault’s ‘4CONTROL’ four wheel steering system, which should make parking around town an absolute doddle and which also improves stability at speed.
Lease customers will also enjoy a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, 360 degree 3D camera, a panoramic sunroof, and a wireless phone charging station.
Will bring further updates about a Renault Austral lease as and when they arrive.
