Want more from a Renault Megane E-Tech lease? Good news, because there’s a fully-loaded new top-of-the-range model.
It’s called the ‘Iconic’ trim, and it sits above ‘Equilibre’, ‘Techno’ and ‘Launch Edition’ models.
One of the most eye-catching additions to this particular variant is a heat pump to compliment the all-electric vehicle’s 60 kWh battery.
The heat pump harnesses ‘wasted heat’ from the battery and electric motor to warm the cabin and optimise the range between charges.
A Renault spokesperson explains:
“In use, when the outside temperature drops below 10°C, the range of the all new Megane E-Tech 100% electric can increase by up to 9% on motorways, while maintaining a comfortable temperature inside.
“Heat pump technology helps naturally lower the temperature of both the battery and electric motor, and takes two times less energy to heat the cabin than of a traditional heat pump, providing energy efficient heating to occupants.
“This heat recovery is captured by a circuit of pipes that run through the entire battery and motor. This occurs when the battery and electric motor are under heavy load, during rapid recharging or when driving on motorways. The pipes convert the recovered heat to warm the passenger compartment and optimise the vehicle’s range.”
And that range stands at up to 280 miles, which stacks up well against rivals like the Volkswagen ID.3, which has a max of 339 miles, and the MG4 EV, which can travel up to 281 miles between plug-ins.
The Iconic trim lets you choose from a two-tone paint option, with either a black or grey roof.
You also get unique 20 inch alloys, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a smart rear-view mirror, a 3D camera system, and a full suite of driver assistance safety tech that includes adaptive cruise control.
The Renault Megane E-Tech supports rapid charging at 130 kW, which will take the battery from 10-80% full in around 30 minutes. Want to know more about EV charging? Take a look through our guide on electric car charging.
Meanwhile entry-level models are generously equipped as standard - and all Megane E-Techs have very decent power of 217 bhp.
With the base ‘Equilibre’ trim, you can enjoy 18 inch alloys, a rear view camera and rear parking sensors, a heated leather steering wheel, ambient lighting, and Renault’s ‘emergency lane keeping assist’ system with ‘solid line, oncoming traffic & road edge detection’.
