First look at Range Rover Electric

Here it is - your first glimpse at the incoming Range Rover Electric, a car that’ll set a new benchmark for EV luxury.

Land Rover has confirmed that the battery-powered Range Rover Electric will officially arrive in 2024. It’ll be the first ever fully-electric Range Rover, while you can still currently enjoy the big SUV as a plug-in hybrid (below) with a range of up to 75 miles using electricity alone.

And while the landmark new electric SUV hasn’t been revealed in full just yet, here’s an early look at what you can expect.

We now know that the Range Rover Electric will ‘deliver performance comparable to a flagship Range Rover V8’, according to the British manufacturer.

That means you can enjoy power of around 530 hp while still being able to deploy the firm’s legendary all-terrain know-how.

The Range Rover Electric is also ‘anticipated to be the quietest and most refined Range Rover ever created’, with prototype models now being put through a rigorous testing regime.

That examination will confirm the plug-in Range Rover’s capabilities when it comes to extreme temperatures, tough terrain, and wading depths of up to 850mm.

You can expect sophisticated active road noise cancellation to drown-out any unwanted din, while 800V architecture will make rapid charging on the public network a doddle.

The Range Rover Electric will be built at Land Rover’s Solihull factory and underpinned by a battery and electric drive unit assembled at Jaguar Land Rover’s new Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton.

Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director at Range Rover, said: “Since going on sale in 2021 the latest generation Range Rover has set a new benchmark for desirability. Across the globe, we’re seeing the highest levels of client demand in our 53-year history.”

Thomas Muller, Executive Director Product Engineering at JLR, adds: “The magic ingredients that underpin the success of Range Rover remain unchanged: timeless, reductionist design, a serene cabin and go-anywhere capability – but now offered with zero tailpipe emissions. And as repeated throughout history, the Range Rover will continue to set the standard. The first of its type. An electric luxury SUV that can deliver on the Range Rover promise. A true global luxury product, as yet unseen in the industry.”

Until the Range Rover Electric arrives, you can lease the traditionally-fuelled Range Rover with Select Car Leasing from £1,288 per month*.
