Porsche Taycan Turbo S gets jaw-dropping power boost!

This is the facelifted new electric Porsche Taycan - and it has been 'improved in almost every discipline’, according to the German manufacturer.

All Taycan models - the Taycan saloon, the estate-like Sport Turismo, and the off-road styled Cross Turismo - now accelerate ‘much faster than their predecessors’, says Porsche.

And get this: range-topping Turbo S models now come with max power of 952 PS, a huge surge compared with the outgoing 761 PS model.

It means that the Taycan Turbo S, with Launch Control deployed, can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds, making it just about the quickest car on UK roads, full stop.

While the entry-level Taycan has the same amount of power as before, at 408 PS, it too is quicker off the mark, hitting 62mph from a standstill in 4.8 seconds.

Meanwhile there are enhancements across the board, particularly when it comes to charging capacity and range, with the Taycan now capable of covering up to 394 miles between charges, depending on which model and trim you choose.

The new Taycan will be up for grabs in the spring of this year.

Style wise, we’re talking nips and tucks rather than wholesale changes. There are subtle tweaks to the front and rear-end as well as fresh headlights and taillights.

But the underlying changes run deep.

One addition is a motorsports-inspired ‘push-to-pass’ function, available in the ‘Sport Chrono’ package, which adds a temporary power boost of up to 95 PS, for up to 10 seconds, at the touch of a button.

The new Taycan is also quicker to recharge, thanks to its innovative 800-volt architecture. If you’re lucky enough to find an 800-volt charger that can deliver up to 350 kW, you’ll be able to take the battery from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.

The Performance Battery Plus also now has a gross capacity of 105 kWh, increased from 93 kWh.

All updated Taycan models come with adaptive air suspension as standard.

Meanwhile the new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option for the all-wheel drive variants. This system offers an ‘unprecedented bandwidth between driving comfort and driving dynamics’, reckons Porsche.

There’s a new rear-axle motor with up to 80 kW more power than its predecessor on all models, a modified pulse inverter with optimised software, revised thermal management, a next-generation heat pump and a modified recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategy.

And Porsche is also confident that the list of standard equipment is ‘even more extensive than before’.

All Taycan lease customers can expect ambient lighting, ParkAssist with reversing camera, electrically folding exterior mirrors with mirror surround lighting, heated front seats, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), a heat pump with a new cooling system, smartphone tray for wireless charging, electric charging ports on the driver and front passenger sides, Drive Mode switch and Power Steering Plus.

Step inside the Taycan’s cabin and you’ll find an updated instrument cluster, central display and optional passenger display, while Apple CarPlay has been more deeply integrated into the vehicle displays and functions. The new In-Car Video function enables video streaming on the central display and the passenger display.

We’ll bring you lease prices for the new Porsche Taycan as and when they arrive.
