This is the new and improved Porsche Cayenne, fresh for 2023.
And while it doesn’t look all that different to the outgoing model, don’t be fooled - because Porsche says it has been given ‘one of the most extensive product upgrades’ in the firm’s history.
The Cayenne is available to lease as both a traditional Cayenne SUV and a more swooping Cayenne Coupe. It’ll continue to lock horns with rivals like the BMW X6 and the Audi Q8.
And the ‘comprehensive’ changes to the updated Cayenne include upgrades to the powertrain, chassis, design and equipment.
Looks wise, the facelifted Cayenne has been given a new front end, more strongly-arched wings, a new bonnet, new headlights, and new rear.
There’s a new ‘semi-active chassis’, which makes subtle adjustments to the damping force of the shock absorbers depending on the conditions. Adaptive air suspension remains an enticing optional extra for maximum comfort.
The Cayenne now gets HD Matrix LED headlights as standard, as well as an air quality system that filters pollutants from the air.
Meanwhile, front passengers can also immerse themselves in their own infotainment display for the first time, letting them catch up on their favourite Netflix series.
One of the big new changes to a Cayenne lease comes in the form of the ‘Porsche Driver Experience’ - a sophisticated cockpit that’s borrowed from the electric Porsche Taycan.
The aim of the game here is maximum convenience for the driver and, crucially, Porsche recognises that a lot of lease customers prefer having physical buttons in the cabin, rather than always having to rely on a complicated touchscreen.
A Porsche spokesperson explains: “Large, easily accessible controls combined with mechanical air conditioning switches and a haptic volume controller ensure optimum operability and a refined look. A key feature of the new Porsche Driver Experience is the right balance between digital and analogue elements.”
The driver gets a 12.6-inch instrument screen and 12.3-inch infotainment screen as standard, while passengers can enjoy a 10.9-inch display.
The Cayenne has already been available to lease as a plug-in hybrid - called the ‘E-Hybrid’.
That powertrain - available on both the Cayenne and the Cayenne Coupe - will now take lease customers further than before, thanks to a range of up to 56 miles using electricity alone (and when driving in urban traffic). That’s an increase in range of around 10 miles compared with before, which isn’t to be sniffed at.
A new 11 kW on-board charger now shortens the charging time to less than two and a half hours, despite the increased battery capacity.
Meanwhile the most potent Cayenne - the petrol-powered S model (above) - has also been handed a new engine in the form of a four-litre V8 biturbo which has power of 474 PS and will see you accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 4.7 seconds.
The entry-level Cayenne is no slouch either. It boasts a three-litre V6 turbo engine with power of 353 PS and 500 Nm of torque.
