Polestar dials it up to 11 with Concept BST

  • Polestar Concept BST revealed.
  • Not a production car, but a 'design study of the extreme'.
  • Drop-top roadster features aggressive front splitter and enormous rear wing.
  • Heralds the Polestar 6 roadster's planned arrival in 2026.

Polestar has thrown the sheets off its Concept BST, a so-called ‘design study of the extreme’ and which turns up the dial to 11.

The Concept BST was shown-off at last week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it was joined by the Polestar 2 fastback and the powerful Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 SUVs.

The ‘BST’ bit in the Concept’s name is actually a contraction of ‘Beast’, so you can see where Polestar is going with it.

The BST badge has already been slapped on production cars like the Polestar 2 BST edition 270, which was lowered and ready for the track while offering power of 475 PS.

Now there’s a new Beast prowling the Polestar paddock.

You might view it as a souped-up version of the incoming Polestar 6, on steroids. The 6 is a drop-top electric roadster that’s due to arrive in 2026 with power of around 883 PS. Lord only knows what power output the Concept BST might have if it makes the leap from drawing board to production.

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar said: “This car is a demonstration of how far we can push our performance brand - Polestar turned up to 11, if you will - and a demonstration of how we could apply the BST formula to our line-up in the future.”

A company spokesperson adds: “Think of it not like a production car, but more a design study of the extreme. An execution of our vision of the naughtier side of Scandinavian design.”

There’s muscular flared arches, an extra wide track and 22-inch forged alloy wheels. There are vents in the bonnet and an aggressive front splitter. And the extreme rear wing also catches the eye.

Let’s hope Polestar makes this thing a reality!
