Here’s your first proper look at the incoming Polestar 3 - an eagerly-anticipated electric vehicle that’s set to “bring the ‘sport’ back to the SUV”.
Polestar is, of course, the beautiful motoring offspring of Sweden’s Volvo and China’s Geely, and a firm that has already given us the award-winning Polestar 2 hatchback-saloon.
The Polestar 3, on the other hand, is the company’s first SUV.
And judging by this pic - the first proper image to be released of the 3 - it’s a bit of a looker.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, says:
“Polestar 3 is the SUV for the electric age. Our design identity evolves with this high-end large luxury EV, with a strong, individual brand character. With this car, we bring the ‘sport’ back to the SUV, staying true to our performance roots. This is a major milestone for our company, one that boosts our growth trajectory and takes us into our next phase.”
The Polestar 3 ‘electric performance SUV’ will enjoy its full unveiling in October of this year, but we’ve also now seen a dark, shadowy night-time teaser trailer for the Polestar 3- grabs from which you can see underneath.
But what do we know so far..?
Polestar is promising a dual-motor drivetrain and a large battery, with a range target of over 372 miles. You can also expect it to be potent, just like the 402 bhp ‘Long range dual motor’ variant of the Polestar 2.
The Polestar 3 will also offer ‘autonomous highway piloting powered by the best-in-class LiDAR sensor from Luminar and centralised NVIDIA computing power’ - with ‘NVIDIA’ being the world-famous software company based in California.
Polestar also plans to launch a new car every year for the next three years, starting with the Polestar 3.
And by the end of 2023, Polestar hopes to be selling cars in 30 global markets - putting 290,000 EVs on the road by the end of 2025.
We’ll bring you more details about the Polestar 3 as and when they arrive.
