What you’re looking at is the Swiss-made Piëch GT, a 1,020 PS electric coupe that’s expected to make its European debut in 2028.
We thought we’d let you enjoy it as Gareth Southgate’s England team prepare to face Switzerland in the Euro 2024 quarter final on Saturday 6th July, 5pm.
It’s the brainchild of Zug-headquartered Piëch Automotive, co-founded by Toni Piëch, who is the son of former VW CEO Ferdinand Piëch.
An innovative 90 kWh battery gives the GT a range of up to 311 miles between charges and also features so-called ‘Track2Charge’ tech, which uses a special type of oil to keep the battery cool in all conditions and which optimises its range and performance.
With 1100 Nm of torque to play with, the Piëch GT should be capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 2.6 seconds. That’s quicker than a Porsche Taycan Turbo.
Meanwhile the exterior design walks a line between ‘beauty and brawn’, with Piëch Automotive also saying the GT will be just as home on the race track as it is on the grand tour.
The Piëch GT is expected to have a £160,000 price tag when it eventually goes on sale and only time will tell if it makes it to UK shores.
When it comes to rivals, the electric Maserati GranTurismo Folgore would run the Piëch GT close. The Folgore gets a similarly-sized 92.5 kWh battery and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.7 seconds - just a shade slower than the GT.
