The new Nissan Qashqai has been named the ‘most reliable car for 2023’ by a panel of experts - giving you yet another reason to lease one.
We’ve been singing the Qashqai’s praises in recent weeks here at Select. It was both the best selling car of 2022, and our most-leased vehicle of last year, too.
And now the good people at Which? magazine has named it the most dependable car available right now, after a survey of 50,000 UK consumers.
The Qashqai was handed a ‘rare’ five-star reliability rating from Which?, with ‘expert testers praising the car’s practicality, dependability and family appeal’.
The team there commented:
“Nissan’s efforts with the all-new version have seen it crowned our most reliable car for 2023 – a fantastic achievement for what is one of the more affordable cars in the sector.
“It’s easy to be dismissive given this is such a new car – after all, newer models tend to be more reliable. But looking at similar aged cars in our survey, not one was reliable enough to get five stars out of five in this category, let alone come anywhere near those at the top. Our data shows that 2023 is set to be the year of the Qashqai.”
The Qashqai is designed and built right here in Britain.
And all Nissans get put through their paces at the firm’s Technical Centre in Cranfield, Bedfordshire.
The Qashqai was subjected to something called a ‘Climatic Four-poster Vibration Rig’ - which simulates three years of driving on our potholed, cratered roads in just five weeks.
It’s here that people in white coats can listen for any rattles and squeaks before getting them eradicated.
David Moss, Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Nissan Technical Centre in Cranfield said:

“Our engineering teams put the car through a series of gruelling tests during its development phase to ensure the very highest standards of reliability, so it’s really rewarding to get this recognition from people driving them every day.”

The Qashqai is available with a couple of different powertrains. There’s a traditional 1.3 litre mild-hybrid petrol unit or a more sophisticated ‘ePower’ hybrid that’ll return upwards of 50mph.
