There’s a new Coupe variant of Skoda’s award-winning Enyaq iV on the way - and it’s teased here in these first-look sketches.
The all-electric Enyaq iV has been nothing short of a phenomenon for Skoda. It has scooped a ton of awards, not least the ‘Car of the Year’ title at the recent Parker’s bash, as well as being named the ‘Best Electric Large SUV’ of 2021 by WhatCar?
And it doesn’t take a genius to work out the appeal - the regular SUV has superb styling, a range of up to 329 miles, so long as you choose the larger 77 kWh battery, as well as considerable performance if you want it. The ‘80X Sportline’ trim, for example, uses four-wheel-drive to achieve a 0-62 mph acceleration time of just 6.9 seconds.
So, how do you make the Enyaq iV even more appealing? You give it a sharp new suit, that’s how. The regular SUV will still be up for grabs but you’ll also soon be able to lease the Enyaq Coupe iV, too, which is due to get its full reveal later this month.
A spokesperson for the Czech firm reveals:
“The coupé variant of the all-electric Enyaq iV has an even more emotive design and, thanks to its outstanding aerodynamics, boasts an even greater range than the SUV version. The sketches show the gently sloping roofline, the rear with a sharp tear-off edge and side skirts in the body colour.”
What that increase in range will be, we don’t yet know - though all will no doubt become apparent in the coming weeks.
Skoda describes the Coupe Enyaq iV as a ‘flagship’ model, with larger wheels and body-coloured side skirts giving it a ‘powerful appearance’.
The spokesperson adds:
“The redesigned roofline enhances the elegance of the Enyaq Coupe iV. From the B-pillar, the roof slopes gently towards the rear and merges seamlessly with the tailgate. The rear styling is dominated by Skoda lettering in block capitals below a sharp tear-off edge and the brand’s signature C-shaped rear lights.”
The sketch also shows a unique, sporty front apron.
Of course, there’s no shortage of coupe-styled SUVs in the current market - you need only look at the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, the Audi Q3 Sportback, the BMW X4 and even the Citroen C4.
The regular Enyaq iV, meanwhile, remains a key rival to cars like the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
