New Evoque HST adds ‘sporty stealth’ to Range Rover’s SUV

Hot on the heels of the recently-revealed Range Rover Evoque Autobiography, another variant of the firm’s brilliant SUV has arrived: the P300 HST.

It’s mean, it’s moody, and there’s lashings of gloss black exterior design features.

And with a powerful 300hp 2.0 litre ‘Ingenium’ petrol engine, which boasts efficiency-boosting mild-hybrid technology, it should go as well as it looks.

With your base Evoque, you get 17 inch alloys, fabric seats, a good array of driver assistance gadgets as standard, and a frugal diesel engine producing around 163hp.

The P300 HST, on the other hand, is another beast entirely - and commands a £50,440 asking price compared with the bottom-rung Evoque’s £32,115 purchase cost.

The HST will accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds, courtesy of a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

And because it has Land Rover’s ‘Terrain Response 2’ system and all-wheel drive, it ‘combines dynamic on-road handling with trademark Range Rover all-terrain capability’, according to the firm.

You can expect fuel consumption to be a shade over 30 miles to gallon.

Meanwhile the HST’s look is described by Range Rover as ‘stealthy high performance’. It comes with a ‘Black Pack’, comprising a black Range Rover bonnet script, side vents, bonnet louvres, door mirror caps and exterior accents.

There’s a gloss black sliding panoramic roof, privacy glass, plus unique 20-inch alloy wheels which are - you guessed it - black with red brake calipers.

The HST’s cabin is also a cut above some of the other Evoque’s in the line-up, and has a lot in common with the interior of the Ranger Rover Sport HST

You get a suedecloth steering wheel and ebony suedecloth headlining, grained leather seat trim, Range Rover treadplates and a powered tailgate.

There’s also a high-definition 12.3-inch instrument cluster able to show a comprehensive array of driving information, navigation instructions and infotainment data. There’s a paid of 10 inch infotainment touchscreens, a 13-speaker 400W Meridian sound system boasting all the phone connectivity you could need, alongside keyless entry and premium LED headlamps.

Rawdon Glover, Jaguar Land Rover UK MD, said:

‘’The new Range Rover Evoque HST strikes a perfect balance between dynamic performance and refined luxury. By enhancing design characteristics of the core vehicle even further, this addition to the Evoque range enables us to deliver our customers even more value and exclusivity.”

The Range Rover Evoque HST is available to order now.
