This is the shiny new Hyundai Bayon - which has been updated for 2024 to include a distinctive front light bar.
The Bayon might have flown under your radar up until now, potentially eclipsed by the larger and more expensive Hyundai Kona, but it’s well worth a look.
Price wise, it sits in Hyundai’s range between the i20 and i30 hatchbacks, and it’s the Korean firm’s most compact SUV, powered by a 1.0-litre petrol mild-hybrid engine.
The emphasis here from Hyundai is on practicality and style. And now a facelifted Bayon should offer much more of the latter while retaining the former.
Full-width daytime running lights are very much ‘the new black’ in the automotive world, and the new Bayon will have an illuminated ‘Seamless Horizon’ light strip running right across the bonnet.
There’s a tweaked front bumper and front grille as well as a redesigned rear bumper to create a ‘bolder and more rugged appearance’.
In the cabin, the infotainment touchscreen fitted as standard has grown from 8 inches to 10.25 inches, while Over-the-Air (OTA) map updates have also been added.
And while UK specification is yet to be announced, the existing Hyundai Bayon is already an extremely well-equipped car as standard, so we don’t see that changing much.
The current entry-level Bayon - which you can lease with Select from £240 per month* - comes with rear parking seniors, a rear view camera, and safety tech such as forward collision assist with pedestrian monitoring and cycle detection.
When it comes to rivals, you’re looking at the Volkswagen T-Cross, SEAT Arona, and Skoda Kamiq, to name just a few.
