All new DS 4 prepares for launch – and THIS is what you can expect

If you’re after a stylish family car that’s ‘off the beaten track’ and away from the motoring middle lane, the all-new DS 4 is well worth a look.

New DS 4 1

And as DS opens the order books ahead of deliveries later this year, here’s all you need to know about a DS 4 lease.

First thing’s first, this is a car that’s no shrinking violet when it comes to styling. DS has long done things differently in terms of design, and the updated DS 4 is no different.

Expect sculpted surfaces, flush door handles and a coupe-like steeply sloping rear window that ‘gives the car an athletic and purposeful profile’, says the French manufacturer.

The DS 4 also boasts some proud eco credentials.

Refined materials are used throughout the interior, including Alcantara, forged carbon and wood, all incorporated via new upholstery techniques, including watchstrap leather, pearl stitching and hidden seams.

There’s also a strong selection of powertrains available, from a powerful 180 PS petrol engine to a robust 130 PS diesel unit. But pick of the bunch must surely be the ‘E-TENSE 225’ plug-in hybrid system, which will return in excess of 200 mpg, can travel for 44 miles on electricity alone, and which generates just 30g of CO2 per km.

There are three main versions of the DS 4, before you even get into trim levels – and that’s the base DS, followed by ‘Performance Line’ and ‘Cross’.

The standard DS has three trims - Bastille+, Trocadero and Rivoli.

Bastille+ models come standard with 17-inch alloys, LED lights and front rear, while inside the seats are trimmed in Tungsten Peruzzi cloth. Infotainment is provided via a 10- inch HD touchscreen while you also get rear parking sensors and a reversing camera with 180-degree vision.

Trocadero models add a larger 19-inch alloys, a distinctive front grille and the ‘DS IRIS SYSTEM’, which combines 3D Connected Navigation with Natural Voice Recognition for an ‘intuitive and personalised experience’.

The Rivoli trim brings Basalt black leather trim in the interior as well as a number of safety features, including DS DRIVE ASSIST, which enables Level 2 semi-autonomous driving and incorporates Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Lane Positioning Assist. DS MATRIX LED VISION headlights are also thrown in for good measure.

Performance Line models are available in two trims - Performance Line and Performance Line+ - and the main difference here, compared with the standard DS models, is that lease customers get a more ‘athletic look’.

There’s a gloss black finish for the front grille and DS WINGS, as well as dark tinted rear windows and black upper window surrounds. New alloys are more aggressive, the interior is trimmed in Black Alcantara, and there’s a perforated Fleur Leather steering wheel. Performance Line models also feature front and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, LED front and rear.

Performance Line+ adds a number of driver assist and safety features, including an emergency braking system and adaptive cruise control, in addition to a Head-Up display.

Finally, Cross models will appeal to those looking for an SUV crossover.

Here you get side skirts, gloss black roof bars, front and rear skid plates and black bumpers. Also available as an exclusive option is Advanced Traction Control, featuring sand, snow and mud modes for improved grip when driving off-road. All DS 4 Cross models also get a head-up display.

A DS spokesperson tells us:

“The all-new DS 4 features a striking new design, set to make it stand out on the open road or city streets. All derivatives feature a distinctive front end, characterised by a new light signature. Slim projector headlights are complemented by Daytime Running Lights made up of two LED strips on either side featuring 98 LED lights in total. Sculpted surfaces and flush door handles define the car’s side profile, while the steeply sloping rear window leads into a new rear light signature, and gives the car an athletic and purposeful profile.”
