MINI ‘Aceman’ concept unveiled

What do you get if you cross an electric MINI hatchback with the MINI Countryman?

You get this all-electric MINI Aceman, a new crossover that could soon join the firm’s family.

First thing’s first, don’t get the Aceman confused with the MINI ‘Paceman’, a three-door crossover coupe discontinued in 2016, or the ‘Clubman’, which is the practical estate version of the MINI that you’ll still find in the range.

And the Aceman is, for now, a concept. You wouldn’t bet against it becoming a reality in the near future, though.

MINI describes the Aceman as ‘premium for the small car segment’, using battery power alone and which is chrome and leather-free, making it more sustainable.

It’s also slightly smaller than the Countryman SUV crossover, but not by a great amount.

Stefanie Wurst, Head of the MINI Brand, tells us:

“The MINI Concept Aceman provides an initial glimpse of a completely new vehicle, bridging the space between the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman in the model family’s future.
“This concept car reflects how MINI is reinventing itself for its all-electric future and what the brand stands for: an electrified go-kart feel, an immersive digital experience and a strong focus on a minimal environmental footprint.”

MINI calls the stripped-back interior of the Aceman ‘unique’. And, boy, they’re not wrong.

These first-look pics show a dish-like infotainment screen, a steering wheel that looks like the front tyre from a small BMX, and a cabin that’s awash with colour.

The dashboard has a flat design and ‘styled like a sound bar’ that extends across the entire width of the cabin. There’s soft knitted textiles throughout.

And don’t worry, MINI fans, the trademark toggle switches are still there.

MINI promises lots of space for occupants, seating for five, and a large boot lid for added practicality.

On the exterior, the Aceman does away with the classic round shape of MINI’s headlights, which might be a bone of contention for some fans of the brand.

There’s also a ‘tapered effect’ between the front and rear wheel arches that give a ‘dynamic expression to the side view of the MINI Concept Aceman’, says MINI.

There are flush, integrated door handles - a first for MINI - while the classic Union Jack design is present in the roof rack.

And there’s plenty of fun stuff to enjoy, including a ‘Trending’ option on the sat nav to direct you to the hippest joint in town.

There’s no news yet on what will power the Aceman, but we hope to get those details when the concept makes its public debut at the ‘gamescom 2022’ computer and video games fair in Cologne, Germany, in August.

Those in the know suspect it could feature the same powertrain as the BMW iX1, which has a range of up to 272 miles and does battle with the Volkswagen ID.4. Want to know more about EV range? Check out our guide explaining electric car range.

Firstly, I’d like to extend a big thank you to Thomas Brown for making the entire car-buying experience incredibly smooth. He was more than just a salesperson he was like a counselor (haha)! Thomas was thorough, patient, and made sure every step of the process was clearly explained and easy to understand. I truly appreciated his guidance throughout. I'm fully happy with the service I received and impressed with how quickly everything was sorted. A great experience all around!
