The battery-powered MG4 EV has been named ‘UK Car of the Year’, with awards judges describing it as a ‘deserved winner for the electric future’.
The UK Car of the Year Awards (UKCOTY) 2023 are decided by a panel of 27 respected motoring journalists from across the industry.
Last week we brought you news of the seven UKCOTY finalists (see below), each of them winners in their own category.
And we can now reveal that the MG4 EV has been named overall champion, with the seven-seat Dacia Jogger placed in the runner-up spot and Toyota’s GR86 performance coupe accelerating into third position.
It’s yet another trophy for the monumentally-successful MG4 EV, which you can lease through Select from around £304 per month* and which has a range of up to 281 miles between charges, when you opt for the ‘Long Range’ variant.
John Challen, director of the UK Car of the Year Awards, says:
“The MG4 proves that electric cars can be affordable, practical and appeal to all areas of the automotive market. Fully charged, it offers more than enough miles for most journeys, while the design and driving dynamics tick two other important boxes for consumers. A deserved winner for the electric future.”
Alisdair Suttie, also a UK Car of the Year Awards director, continued:
“MG has come up with the perfect car for our times. With plenty of range and quick charging, it takes the chore out of EV ownership and makes it a desirable way to travel. It's simply a fantastic all-round family car.”
Last year’s UK Car of the Year 2022 was another all-electric model - the futuristically-styled Hyundai Ioniq 5, which has a range of up to 315 miles between charges and can be leased via Select Car Leasing from around £525 per month*
